well yeah i do that also. kinda forgot today was sunday so thats why today but got another question about taxes. does christner have like an accountant or someone who will help you with them? ive never been in the lease position so the taxes thing would be new to me
-
Taxes are your responsibility. JCT does not withhold any tax of any sort. With that said, you should set up an account with your bank to have money for the IRS put in every settlement. The amount is up to you, but you don't want to be short when you file your taxes come spring time.
They do offfer a program called ATBS. Its a third party company that will keep track of your receipts and do your taxes for you. It does cost $18/week though. This company has nothing to do with JCT. They will explain everything in orientation. -
Thanks again for the info. i will be using that service if i get approved. recruiter emailed me this morning and is running my dac and mvr and then will get back to me. not sure whats on my dac since i left swift but hopefully its ok. my mvr should be spotless... no tickets or anything ever
-
What are some of the accounts that christner hauls for? any dedicated runs?
-
Good idea to use the ATBS service if you dont already have a good trucking accountant. They work closely enough with JCT the only thing you have to get them monthly is your reciepts they will get your settlements.
Our primary accounts are Tyson,Walmart,Leprino,Natural growers but we have a number of others as well. -
Has Tyson started paying detention to JCT yet?
-
They always have paid detention. The qualifications to get it are strict though.
-
I was told repeatedly when I was there that "Tyson doesn't pay detention to JCT; they are our biggest customer." Per Ginny Hall and whomever was her supervisor, after I asked about detention after waiting nearly two days for a preloaded trailer (product wasn't ready), and every other time Tyson kept me waiting around while the Prime and Schaffer trucks that arrived after I did got loaded ahead of me. Guess they finally changed that in the past year...good for them and their drivers.
-
Tyson always have paid detention. Now will you get some of it? That's another story. Like steel tiger said, the qualifications to get any sort of detention is like pulling teeth. If detention is your main issue then you might as well look elsewhere. Very rarely will you sit unless you're just in a bad area or freight is real slow.
