If you have been diagnosed with sleep apnea, you'll need to get treatment before orientation. If the doctor decides to order a sleep test during your orientation physical, you'll be hired. Sleep testing is done by a third-party clinic at the Campus Inn, where you'll be staying. There is little to no waiting.

Here's a link for school packing list. http://www.truckingtruth.com/trucki...2009/10/packing-list-for-truck-driving-school This is mainly for the mentor phase of training OTR (many companies will send you home for a bit before this begins...good to know this in advance so you don't take too much too early). I can think of a few things that were forgotten from the list...voided check for direct deposit info, work gloves, etc. for example. Most schools have a webpage devoted to listing the bare minimums of what to bring and what not to bring. If your school doesn't then check out a similar school's website for their list.

First, I want to thank silenteagle for all of the awesome information on this page. After weeks of scouring this forum for the right company to get back into driving with I must say that this particular forum is by far the best I have come across, and as a result made me realize that PRIME is the best place for me. I drove previously for roughly 9 years and after taking a 5 year break to get a bachelors degree, and then to not be able to find a job, the road is calling me back. PRIME seems like the best option for me. I just have one question, they have a pet policy of nothing larger than 30 pounds. I have a dog that is 12 years old and a little more than 40 pounds. I was wandering if PRIME will ever make exceptions to this rule. I am going to call the recruiter and speak with her about it. Just thought I would get some input here first. He is an old dog, he sleeps alot, and he has been always been on the road with me. I hate to say this cause I know there are going to be plenty of you that bad mouth dogs on the road. But I just dont think I could go with a company that wouldnt allow him to be with me......which sucks, because for MY situation, PRIME seems like the best choice. Thank you in advance.

My husband has been impressed with the staff also, they have answered all his questions, never shut doors in your face and are very knowledgeable. He has talked to some of the drivers too and they were real helpful.

He loved the "motel" Campus Inn and the Millinium Building. And having a good restaurant for a meal in the building helped a lot.

All in all he has been very pleased with the experience.

Good luck on your upgrade and enjoy yourself, it is a great way to see the USA and just imagine what life was like before we had cars and trucks. Each season of weather changes makes it look like new place when you go through.

Just got accepted for orientation, i'll be headed out on feb 17th, and this has been great to know what to expect. I have some questions, i am a big guy, 6'5" ~300lbs, whats the bmi or neck size cut for the sleep test deal? ive never been tested, im not a ###### by any means lol, but i just want to know what to expect there. also, any ideas on how to check for diabetes? no family history and never had a test, but again i want to cover as much as possible before i get there so i know ill have no issues when i arrive. this has been something ive wanted to do for ever and am finally getting ever thing in order, im beyond thrilled!!!

Another thing, i spent many summers running steel with a good friend, and thats the direction im leaning. anyone with any direct advice on that?

If I come down there with my CDL temps, can I have the option to come back to Wisconsin for my CDL test to pass it, or would I have to go to the school to take the test?

Also If I do have to take the test at the school, does anyone know if there is a fee or would I have to take all the test over again to get it transfored to Wisconsin??

At your size you will have to have a sleep test.

If you have sugar in your urine (diabetes test during physical) and not under some sort of treatment with your Dr you will be sent home. The doc will give you the parameters that you can return after you begin treatment with your Dr to control you glucose.

if you are diagnosed and under treatment be sure to bring your documentation, and probably a recent A1C test result. If you require insulin injections, don't bother coming, prime doesn't hire diabetics that require injections.
