Thank You so much for all your info! I have decided to go off of Rand McNally for trucks. So far double checking his statements with that has gave me a really good idea if they are shorting him or not. Thanks again NavigatorWife!

as with any electronic method of data storage, backup early and backup often. My rand crashed, locked up, quit! Write down miles logged and any other pertinent info daily... Or just send a text message to an email account. Voice to text function makes it quick and easy to do. That way you can see it right away as well.

Then when he gets home time you can download the rand info to your computer with the Rand Dock software as well.

Unless the company is using Rand McNally to calculate the paid miles it will never match up so how in the world will you know if he is being shorted? I believe you are proceeding based upon an erroneous assumption.

Correct. If there only was some way to export the company routing to a file, to see.

But my company routing has a "total miles" stat in their routing. That should be noted and compared to the paid miles.

Exactly. She is going to eventually post saying "my husband is getting screwed by his company". When based upon the information she has posted there is no way to know. I don't think she understands the importance of having the answers to the questions we are all asking.

The paid miles is what the company is going to pay him. You should be looking more at reimbursements likes scales, lumpers, tolls. Companies always like to say opps on those. Other then that. When he was in orientation they already told him the mileage program they use to pay. So they could care less what his wife is saying. Only thing looking up the mileage is going to do is hurt your feelings. When you see all the miles you aren't being paid for. But what you don't see is the fact you don't have to drive down those 2 lanes road behind the rv that goes 45mph. Or the switchbacks that have your trailer inches from the side of a mountain. Hope there's no rock slide.

He's been there, done that. Even on 60 in Buena Vista because it was how many miles shorter, companies are insane. I use to say the 4 lane interstates were where trucks need to be if they were there, not sure anymore with all the crazies out there, just look at OH the other day.

And do beware, google, Rand McNally, etc may never match up with what he is paid for in reality, it is just guestiment. The main thing to look for is if he has a whole lot of miles missing perhaps. If he ran 3200 miles per maps of any sort, it would be 320 miles less with the 10% taken off.

Shouldn't the miles be included in the load dispatch?

When I get a dispatch, empty and loaded miles are already figured. It doesn't matter what I actually drive. I'm getting paid for whatever amount is figured in the dispatch.

Considering that most companies use PCMiler for payments based on zipcode to zipcode, that really isn't going to do much for you.

There can be as much as a 10-12% variance in what's "paid" vs "driven".

    Especially if there are detours.
