1) Illegal or not, they will take money out of your check for over idle, and I don't think getting a lawyer to fight it would be worth what you would get back.
2) If you keep track of your idle and send in your requests, you should never get charged ever, unless you are doing something stupid like idling 90% in 70 degree weather.
3) I was told the idle policy was put in place because the old man who owned the company was in brooks one day when it was in the 70s and almost every truck in the yard was idling. Like most things, it is the stupid lazy fools who make stuff harder for everyone else.

And its always hard to argue things like that because sooner then later you become "that guy" and nobody likes "that guy"
-
It's just not in my nature to agree to something and then try to turn around fight it. I knew about the idle policy when I was hired, so I'm not going
to make a stink about it now. -
I wonder if there is a legitiment trucking company out there. And have they stiffed you on anything else?
-
You knew bout this when you got hired. You could have walked out the door in orientation. But you chose to stay.so you're going no where with this. Send In the #### message to idle don't like it go to england or swift. Only fools get charged cause you're so dam lazy you can't send a free form
-
Be cool Joker, its just a discussion we are having...on a forum...where people discuss things... Besides its not about the form, its about the principal of the action.
Paloma Thanks this. -
This subject is getting old. If its about principal who ever don't like it should have got back in their car or bus back home. Not like it was a suprise. I would do the same thing if I had 1,000 trucks or two. I ran my truck 50hrs last week. Temp from minus ten to 20 guess what this may be a suprise but I didn't get charged becausei sent the message in.

The legitimate companies hire you after you have a couple of years experience. The companies that hire entry level drivers aren't expecting you to stay forever and more than half the people who start driving won't even stay in driving for more than a year. The business model is to get as many new drivers in the door as possible because they get money from the government to hire people, otherwise they couldn't be a profitable business. This isn't some evil scam, it is business.
The "legitimate" companies hire the people who have been through all the bs of being a truck driver for a while because they know you are less likely to quit after a month, or wreck their truck. Since you are seasoned, you are more valuable to companies and they can afford to treat you better.
At the end of the day, trucking is a business, not a charity. And it is not for a lot of people.Paloma Thanks this. -
well said.

I was just pointing out that it is not legal and May cannot take money out of your check for it. I did not have to get a lawyer or even call a lawyer. I simply looked up what the law was and called Oregon Labor and Industries. I could have filled out a form online and forced MTC to give my money (a whopping 55 dollars) back. I didn't have to do that even. They simply gave me my money back. If one of you guys want to have a regular brawl about this then I will give you my phone number and we can hook up. I was really just trying to help out other drivers. Lord knows it isn't very easy to make a living driving for May. If any driver made 40k their first year at May it is because they never came home. And they sure as hell weren't on the Western 11.
