Was a bad month Logan, that's for sure mate.
And to add insult to injury, the load I went and got from Pa, I bounced over 900 miles to go get! It paid out the rear. Then get to Oh and hear a "funny" noise. F/liner and Detroit can't get me in for @4 days, so I tried to make it home. Judgement call, but I believe the damage was done with that cylinder over fuelling.
It happens right?![]()

Your right it sure does, well prop's to you for sticking it out and not throwing in the towel!
Have you gotten a new dog yet? -
My first 6 months of operation.
I have spent $12,400 in maintenance costs alone.
I still have to put in a set of drives yet this year and look at shocks, trailer doors, windshields both sides (they need to be resealed mainly), landing gear, and a few other things on my list.
And the kicker.....
The most major thing has been either the kingpins and steers at $2600 or else the exhaust man gasket at $1100.
Otherwise, it's been APU repairs or a set of 4 trailer tires at one shot.Logan76 Thanks this. -
Martin, i know the feeling. Was down to two weeks and the trk. paid for. Then a knocking in the motor.. Out in BFE Sd.
Went round and round with the tow guy wanting to get his buddy to tow the ld. Had a multi axle with 2 decks in it. No just tow me to town and we will drop the trl.
Then to Sioux falls we go. Cracked the block at number 4.
Ok, I get it towed to St. Cloud to the dealer there where I bought the trk. New 3/4 motor is on it's way. Take my dog to the vet. He's just not his normal self.. Well his time came. So a motor and losing my travel buddy the same week.
Never replaced my dog. Got married instead 3 year later. Help me... Joking. I got a good wife.
But yes trucking will throw all sorts of curves to you.Logan76 Thanks this. -
Sure did Logan!
I was in the shop stripping down the old motor to figure out what went wrong, and my wife came in and said "Here, I found a German Shepherd breeder local". So we went that night to pick out a new trucking dog for me!
As a pup, and as of last week in SD.
I have always had GS's, so it was an easy call. That and my old trucking dog is now a couch potato Shepherd at the house, along with a Siberian Husky.
Wouldn't be without one of them on the truck with me, that's for sure!

Sorry to hear of that Passing!
It makes a terrible day even worse when you lose such a good friend.

What a great lookin' dog! I have 3 dogs myself and wish I could take the one dearest to my heart (a beagle&basset mix) with me trucking but he has some seperation issues and tears stuff up/pee's when left alone and that wouldnt work out in my truck...
at home I built a special dog room for my dogs with linoleum floors and just a few dogs beds in there so there is nothing to tear up and if they have an accident in there while no ones home it is easy to clean up.
two of my dogs were abused and we rescued them.leftlanetruckin Thanks this. -
Good for you Logan!
I used to do German Shepherd rescue. Pick them up in one area, drop them at the shelters. Had a run in with a shelter when they had a dog like the one that passed away (Long haired GS), and they wanted to come and inspect the house!! Good enough to transport, not good enough to adopt. After that I didn't do any more.

we just adopted one of ours, but the beagle & basset mix was dropped off up by my wifes parents house and the one neighbor kicked him until he had a seizure, so we took him in before someone killed him...
He's the sweetest most loving dog you'll ever meet, even though people treated him so poorly all he wants to do is love everyone up!Last edited: Jan 23, 2013

I'd be kicking the crap out of the guy, no time for that at all.
Good for you though, for giving the pooch a loving home! They know when they have been rescued I think, and act accordingly.
