I have had 3 coiled plastic air lines crack and start leaking under the coil spring by the glad hands, 2 red and a blue. Why or what am I doing to cause this? I drive a flat bed and pete 379 in Texas/Oklahoma

They break due to time and cold weather. I've had an old one snap in the middle as I moved them to hook up to the trailer.
We now replace them every 2 or 3 years. -
I have those, I'm on the fence tho. The emergency side seems to get screwed up: like air gets between the layers of rubber. Ends up looking like a twisted piece of rope. Doesn't leak, but I don't like the look of it. I've swapped the lines to see if that'd relieve it, now under pressure they both look that way. Fail. I think it happens bc I was putting the end right by the glad hand at some extreme angles. Changed it up so that I have a little section of hose between the end and the glad hand with a spring surrounding it. Problem doesn't seem to be worsening...just my experience.

Not sure whats causing it I grab the glad hand, but am wondering about some of the tight turns over 90 degrees pulling them.... I did find replacement ferals for the hoses at the local utility trailer shop for .35 each. Got me a handful.....

What ENR said. I bought a set of these about 9 years ago and they still work great. I run in the cold north in the winter and the south in the summer with no problems. When I traded trucks in 2007 I swapped them to my current truck and still use them today. Also I had a scale in Maryland put my other truck/driver out of service once because they determined one of the plastic coiled hoses had a "kink" in it. It wasn't leaking but was kinked. So I'm not a big fan of the coiled hoses anymore.

I would think Parker is the best quality. The UV rays is what kills the plastic.
They always break at the wrong time! I dropped my rolled up tarp on mine once. Had to cut the end straight and put it back together a bit shorter.
I moved all my lines under the trailer to avoid accidents and tripping. The lines attach above the landing gear and my glad hands are on the rear of the truck frame. -
I like that "hidden" style cleans it up quite a bit

The air lines do come in different lengths, are the ones you are using too short for your application, and putting extra stress at the ends?
