Alaska-bound freight

With my big ol' kitty and all the equipment I was able to scale 51k with that revolution flat. Problem is that a spread axle is not recognized in western Canada. So you'd have to get a tridem to run those weights.

 

I just have to look into the truck that can do it. The 2 I listed i would imagine are lighter then this thing even with the same motor and trans and a larger sleeper.

 

It was a Landstar agent. He was looking to pay $35k for a load of pipe going to Prudhoe Bay once a month. I know the guy who took it. He actually takes it to Seattle and has it put in a barge and then pays a AK company to haul it up to Prudhoe for him. After all his costs, he still pockets $22k and grabs a load from Seattle back home. He's one smart cookie !!!

 

Depending on what comes back down to the lower 48 from up there I would rather go all the way and come back down if worth it.

 

Your truck can do 51k but its not all that team friendly.

 

Ive heard not much coming out of there. That if your going to do it plan on bouncing in to canada some where to pick up to come back to the states.

 

I'm at 33820 lbs. empty, tanks topped off. My fuel tanks are 110 gallons each, though I've never been able to put more than 187 gallons in them. I have a 102" X 53' Transcraft Stepdeck with sliding axles. I, also, have ramps, which add at least 450 lbs. I would be hesitant to take any of my securement off the truck, for fear of not being able to secure a load coming back. If I had a load lined up I could drop everything that wasn't required. For instance, a load of pipe up and back. I could save some weight. This is why I am looking for a light weight flatbed, one of the reasons, anyways.

 

I keep an eye out for freight from Alaska. For several month there were loads of pipe on a daily basis from Prudhoe Bay to Houston. They were Landstar or BNSF loads. They were listed at 48K.

 

Now I could do round trips in 10 days maybe 14 if weather sucks but 2 a month round trips.... coming back I would guess doesn't pay as much but its got to be in the 15-20k range. Thatd be 100k a month gross... sounds kinda nice to me!

 

You have set your sight a little too high. From WA, MT, ND, or MN expect $8K to 10K. From CO or UT $10K. From TX, SC NC $10K to $12K. Just before Christmas I saw on out the Dallas/Ft. Worth area for $17K. I hear of the $30K loads out of Houston or Brownsville, TX, but have never seen on. The return trip will be $4K to $8K at the most.
