Failed my road test

1) Was this a known testing route? If yes, did the school have you drive it endless times before testing?

I will give the benefit of the doubt and say no. Otherwise you would have known how to navigate the turn without infringing the lanes of oncoming traffic.

2) Not being allowed to retest with the school's truck is just 150% terrible. I took a cheesy community college course for $4K. They taught nothing but how to pass the test. No parallel parking, once they showed us how to hook to a trailer. Only because we asked! Hehehe

But they did state that we would have been allowed to retest as often as needed. Half of the class did not pass the first time. Interesting fact, those that paid cash for the school passed the first time (three others and I).

That sucks about your community college class. Just a note to others, most community college classes are pretty good. I went to comm college for my CDL. I got 50-60 hours behind the wheel on the highway and another 40 hours on the yard course working on backing. We drove the DMV road test course at least 10 times before testing and interestingly enough, the DMV course did feature a buttonhook turn. It was actually the turn performed when turning back into the DMV parking lot. Although there was no hill involved in this turn, it was fully expected that we could possibly impede oncoming traffic. It was only an issue if the oncoming traffic was too close when we began out turn.

 

We did drive the exam route, like, most of our driving miles... so that helped.

Basically it got us the plastic license, not much more.

I've been a flight instructor for over a decade and have seen the best most prepared student fail a test, sometimes for really stupid reasons and sometimes deservedly, happens. I've also seen the humility that comes with that make a person better at what they're doing whether driving or flying. Take it as a lesson and not a failure!

 

Yep. Everyone that failed the first time passed the second time.

I would suggest going to a company that has company sponsored training...such as FFE, CRST, C.R England, Central refridgeration etc...

You don't need to do this. Talk to someone at the school and get a re-test and then AVOID the above listed companies at all costs.

People with no experience should not be giving this type of advice. Period!

A big reason many drivers don't succeed in the industry is following this type of advice.

 

I don't think that is the kind of work the o/p is looking for anyway I'm pretty sure based on the fact that he is living in his car in and in minot nd, I would guess he is looking for work in the oil fields.
