Congratulations being clean for 45 days, now stay clean. Question I have is, what does this statement mean? Correct me if i'm wrong, but it sounds like you haven't had a very stable work history either. There is more to getting a job in trucking then passing a drug test.
-
Whether a hair test or urine test,45 days is not long enough. He's going to fail.
-
Does anybody know which companies do hair sample drug tests? I know Schneider does, but which others? Thanks.
-
He's already "failed" and he hasn't filled the jar yet.
Why is trucking ALWAYS the career of last resort to chronic pot heads?Tonythetruckerdude, TRKRSHONEY, Hitman and 1 other person Thank this. -
Why don't you go to a doctor and just have a urine test which is like $50.00.But wait awhile long like 1 or 2 months.Do not go to any company till you are clean because if you fail that will go on your dac report which is like a credit report that most companies look up to find out all the dirty laundry on you.If any companies see a failed drug test they will not hire you even if you are clean at that point..I'm sure there are companies that use a hair test but ive never had it done that way.

Everyone is different when it comes to drug tests and passing and or failing. Long term users take a little longer to clean out. Also people with slower metabolisms and extra weight take longer to clean out. What you eat and drink will have a major effect on the amount of time it takes to clean out. I would say that 45 days is a long time though. Should be more than plenty of enough time for anyone to be clean.
Most companies don't do hair follicle tests. They are expensive! Off the top of my head I can only think of one and that's Cypress Truck Lines down here in Florida.
Anyway..... your main concern should be your family. Can you not get any other kind of job or go to any other sort of technical school? Being an over the road driver is very tough! Especially for someone who has spent the last few years smokin bud and sofa surfin!
What is the deal with seeing your kids? Do they live with you?
Being a truck driver means you are rarely going to see them. (or anyone for that matter) Despite what the school and recruiters tell you, you are going to be away from home for about two months at a time with about 3-4 days off in between. You are going to miss holidays, birthdays, school events, funerals etc.... I can tell you from first hand experience that it isn't worth it! I have been down that road, had a child at a young age, got my CDL, went over the road, got divorced, never got to see my kid grow up etc... its not worth it! You can never get back those years or events that you missed.
One thing I have really come to realize is that when your kids are young this is your time with them. This is going to be the only time you will get to spend with them. This is the time in which they are shaped and molded and the seed is planted in them to ultimately determine how or what they are going to become when they start into adult hood. I can tell you for certain that at the teenager age that they still love you but they also love their girlfriends/boyfriends and partying and playing with their buddies and on top of this they have school work and cars and just in plain... a very busy life. Its tough during this time in their life to even get to see them for an hour!
Any way long story short, sorry to blab on, over the road trucking and families just don't mix.
Do your best to look into all possible options before committing. Once you commit its going to cost a lot of money and a lot of time. -
Sorry that no one answered your question -correctly- and accurately as relates to the trucking industry. Yes, hair follicle testing CAN check for drug use over a longer period of time HOWEVER the labs will only certify accuracy to 90 days. Not six months, not a year, not ANY OTHER LENGTH OF TIME. Anyone providing you any different information is guessing or providing you what they think they heard or some BS they read somewhere or simply repeating what another told them. 90 DAYS, that's it in regard to the trucking industry, hair follicle testing and length of time labs will certify absolute accuracy of their tests in a court of law. That being said, you will do well to give yourself a cushion outside of this length of time just to be safe. Give yourself at least four months clean, six months is even better to remove all doubt.
Ignore the judgmental remarks about potheads and personal morals as those drivers are all qualified for sainthood and to not only judge but cast stones as they are golden, holier-than-thou and of deity status and have never committed a sin, transgression or wrong in their entire life.
Good luck to you, man. Let the negative comments roll off you like water off a duck's back. Those judgmental comments are ugly self-projections from self-loathing drivers. -
I think you're overstating things here, chief. After smoking "all day, every day for about 4 years", he's now "clean for 45 days"...well, that's a genuine concern. It's called a track record.
We've all got our crosses to bear. We're all paying for our past transgressions in one way or another. But to throw the "holier than thou" card out is a little broad, IMHO.TRKRSHONEY and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this. -
People change. AA is proof positive and chock full of success stories. You don't punish a man for his past unless his past is so checkered to the degree it was required to be judged by a jury of his peers in a court of law and proper sentence meted out. Yes, we all have our crosses to bear but we don't all judge others for their decisions to clean themselves up based on their habit of choice, we base our judgement on the fact that the person is cleaning themselves up ... of which should be commended, not chastised or put down.
