Have a medical issue that requires a one year waiting period from last October befor getting my CDL. Was sent home yesterday but my recruiter ws nice enough to let me stay at the motel until this morning.
And yes, I disclosed this in my application.
They want me back in November.
I took the written General, combination, and air brakes. then added the written Tanker. I missed like 3 questions combined from all 4 tests.
As a famous actor said: I'LL BE BACK.
Back to the drawing board...

That's too bad.Your recruiter should have knew this and told you she can't hire you.But then again she may have just missed that part of the applications. If you do apply for another job that requires a medical card,I would make sure to tell the person that does the hireing. But for a mega trucking companies, they all require you take a physical with their doctor for insurance reasons.

what was the medical condition if you don't mind me asking. I am scheduled to leave Monday to go to Springfield for training.

A recruiter can't make those kind of judgements - it takes a MEDICAL DOCTOR.
Sorry Chessguy, don't let that stop ya! If you do go somewhere else, understand that your experience needs to be OTR to get into Prime. -
I'm working with a recruiter right now for a different company, and the advice I've been given by several people is that if you have any medical issues that you have to disclose, have your doctor write you a letter specifically stating that you are okay and the medical issue would not prevent you from safely driving. I've read horror stories about people being sent home after having clear DOT physicals and disclosing everything before hand for certain medications, most notably antidepressants. I have a few medications I take, and I have already very clearly disclosed those and will continue to do so at every opportunity, but I still can't shake the feeling that when I arrive for training I could still be sent home for that reason. Apparently the only incentive for the recruiter is to get you to training, and retention doesn't seem to make a difference to their bottom line. They only care about getting you out there, which I find odd because they're still spending resources on you to be there even for a few days. I'd really like to know how common this is with companies.
I'm not even in the industry yet and I already have the opinion that recruiters are absolute scumbags and poorly educated on every aspect of hiring drivers.
