Hey all
My name is Tara. I'm not a trucker (though always do talk about getting a CDL - so many opportunities in a port city, and I love driving. I get excited at the chance to move one in a yard from time to time), but I am in school for the transportation industry. I work at a regional courier company right now as a dispatcher/ops supervisor, but aim to someday run a terminal, or own my own company. I know way too much about commercial truck tires as well, after spending 'volunteer' time at a company that deals with them. I've been reading TTR for a week or so now - checking out all kinds of information. Never know when you will learn something new or find something useful! Also interested in seeing reputations of companies.
I'm following up a call from an intermodal company tomorrow and hopefully will find myself further into the trucking industry soon.

TLG87 Thanks this. -
Thanks for the welcome truckon
Nice avatar - is that yours? I call my Dodge my mini-semi lol.
As of right now, I'm a phone call away from accepting a position as dispatcher for MDII.
My uncle tells me he wishes he never gave up his CDL, and my grandfather used to drive around an old Pete (longgg ago) hauling materials for the iron workers.
A great point was made earlier today - once I get into this, if I enjoy it, I'll never be out of a job again. -
Used to be
, I had allot of fun with that truck.. ran 40 states with it so there are good memories
I've did some dispatching for our small fleet , but I guess I'm just too hands on.. I prefer to drive
What year is your truck? -
It's a 2001 2500. Twin/compound turbo setup (64 over 74), p-pumped, NV5600 (wont drive anything but a manual lol), dual disc clutch, FASS, studded, fire ringed, Schied 2.6 cam, 5" TBE, leveled on 35s. Drove out to Illinois to get it and drove it back to Charleston one weekend. Broke a turbo a few months ago and just got it back together, $1800+ later.
I love driving. Did 21 states in 14 days when I first got my car - Charleston to Los Angeles and back. Maybe one day I'll get a CDL
I've only been talking about it forever. I started my training at MDII today for dispatching, payroll and the import export orders. Looking forward to it all. I certainly wasn't much excited about my other job, so this is a welcome change.
