Well Jugg.....we were in Springfield for about a day and a half....had to get the tires rotated and and alignment done.... we had a load going to MA that we picked up in CA.....they wanted us to go to CO out of CA the day we got empty....I said "NOPE...we just chained up once today....not in the mood to do it again"...Not to mention the local news was calling for approx. 3ft of snow up at the pass.....so we took the night off and got the load to MA and took it to the yard....I don't know about CountryCharm....but our part of the load paid us over $2900 for 1700 miles. When we got to the yard....they had all kinds of freight.....going to CA...and the East Coast....NAH!! Took the day to get the Maint. done....and then check the board....WELL....they had a load that went right to Knoxville, TN....RIGHT THRU THE HOUSE and delivers the 26th.... This is the perfect load....Why, you ask?? It doesn't pay that great....I gotta go deliver the day after Christmas.....Well....My 81 yr old daddy, a retired truck driver since 1985....gets to go on the big truck...MY big truck...Talk about dreams come true.....We're gonna go make this delivery.....then....we might just ride around for a day or 2.....I haven't decided yet. But, he's excited about it. And, I guess you can tell....I'M EXTATIC!!! Talk about a Merry Christmas! And, as my daughter stated.... Us making to move to Prime has been the best thing for Mom & Me.

Hope everybody has the best Christmas ever. So far, I gotta rank this one pretty high! Thanks for all the words of encouragement...... and the naysayers too....they make me more determined!

Awesome to hear things are working out so well for you Steve & Lo!!!

Great that you get to take your PoP on a ride for Christmas too!

I hope you guys are still around when I go Over the Road.

I should be in "My Truck" in about 3 weeks!! But I will be running For Ace Trucking out of Texas.
Mostly Tx. - La. Some further runs, Once in a while, But 90% Tx and LA.
Not the kind of money I could be making OTR, But I still have 2 boys in school, So I will do this to stay Close.
(And it gets experience back under my Belt for when My wife and I can make the Move to the open Roads together!)

I always "Hollar" at prime Trucks on my CB To see if it is you guys.
If you run around Texas, And I find ya, We will have to get a meal, Coffee, or something!

    Have a Merry CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!

See ya on the road someday!

Well....as we sit here laughing after dinner....the last few weeks don't seem as rough as they were while we were in the middle of them....

From the weather....to dealing with inexperienced dispatchers....overall...we still managed to do good. The hardest was last week...we ran 5900 miles....and some of it was pretty rough weather....but, my partner, my wife....she has a strength in her that holds me up when I'm at my weakest. And, her calm and rational way of handling things definitely helps my "fly-off-the-handle" way of doing things. She's the reason that things are going so good. She helps me a lot more than she thinks. And....this girl can drive...

A few things I do know....
My youngest daughter doesn't have to worry about her bills while she's in school....that's a change from last year....
My oldest daughter and her husband are now able to save towards their new home.....and their new baby.....
My wife isn't stressed out at Christmas time.....and she always stresses at Christmas time.....
I've lost some time with my parents....but...in some ways we stay in touch better.....
And, last....but, not least....I get to spend every day with my wife....whether we're working...or playing....now we get to spend our time together....and that's what I've always wanted.

Thanks! And you and yours have a wonderful Christmas and a blessed New Year!

I just wanted to quickly mention that I have a younger DM here at prime and he will work you as hard as you want to run. I am solo and bring in 4600 in revenue at the low end every week and 5200 on the high end more often than not. This week I ran a dedicated mail route and will take home over $3000 in my check:biggrin_25525:. You have to know how to run a business out here or be willing to learn how to real quick. My Dm is 24 and he got a fat Christmas bonus from me this year and it will be bigger next year!
If your DM does not work out for you, you have the option to get rid of them. If you want to run hard and are willing to put a little trust in lower paying freight to get you to the bigger fish then you will make it out here easy and Prime is a company that i will never leave unless forced to do so by reason beyond control. My DM is Cody out of Denver and he will treat you the way that you want to be treated so long as he is given the same respect. Taking him for a $20 steak in about 2 hours. I dont need to buy his loyalty but it never hurts to try:biggrin_2559:
Merry Christmas all. And to all a good night!!!!

Prime only pays for the fuel that you need to fill a tr. that you just picked up. You are responsible for keeping the fuel in it. If you are a good enough driver then the $$$ is plenty to do so!

Dont hesitate to call them at Prime. I interviewed the company for 2 months before i went over because I do not like to do what we call the Hilary...Go where the wind blows without making an educated decision to do so. I got all the right answers not only from them but those on the road that work here. They are your best resources as well as sites like this one.

A few things i would like to know is......

#1. Is the lease truly a walk away lease? I have talked to a few that say if you do walk away from it you will have to pay a penalty.

#2.Has any of you had the lease agreement looked over by a lawyer to see what is really in the fine print?

#3. Is there any type of warranty on the used trucks? I'm assuming no. Also...if say you lease an older truck how long is the lease? It should be shorter for an older truck vs a new one.

#4. One thing i have wondered is how much in taxes will you be paying? I understand from other O/O that even though you make good money and have a lot of deductions that can be clammed the government still hits you really hard at the end of the year. No point in making 150K then after taxes and expenses ( fuel, upkeep and such ) for that year only bringing home 25K.

#5. You seem to be having an outstanding time at Prime but how many other drivers have you talked to at Prime and how are they doing? Not to be an ### but just because you are doing well does not mean that everyone else there is. I myself would like to hear about others there as well because in the past i have heard a great many things about other company's only to find that once your in that seat they not as good as there were made out to be. Not to mention that most drivers i have talked to om the road that drive for Prime have not seemed very eager to recommend driving for them

I'm glad you have had great susses there but we really need to hear from others as well. Think you could find a few other Prime drivers to chime in here?
