It beats the H out of me why they do it. But they do it all the time. When I got issued a POS truck the simple answer was that is what they had available. I had a choice between 3 trucks. The one I picked was the only one that did not look like it had been to the demolition derby. 75 bucks out of my pocket for detail work and then spent the next couple of months going from shops and dealers in between loads to get fixed.

It's a fact that many company's do very little with a truck between the time a driver unseats it to the time a new driver is issued it. Heck I even had to go in and get all the permits on one because it had been sitting for almost 6mo's. Now when they turn it in or sell it? Now thats when they make sure all is good.

How do you know about the luck of the draw? Have you driven for FFE?

How You know It's the luck of the draw. You worked for FFE before.

Only 3 years experience, your just a Young pup in the trucking industry. where you have the right to tell an experience driver it's a luck of the draw, and you not have enough experience. Unless your a job hopper.

Boy it's funny how the Academy of FFE driver training school preaches about safety issues: When I went through there Academy as a refresher course: As for actual over the road training we had four students per truck. So we had to do the rotation thing and only had two days to do it before road test. Each driver only got about 1 1/2 hours of driving per day. Thank god I had prior experience.

How You Know!! Have You Drove For FFE.

My experience with FFE: After 10 years out service from the trucking industry, I had to do a refresher course just to get back into trucking. Boy I should have done my homework when it came to picking a company to do the refresher course. FFE from get go one has been a living nightmare. 1[SUP]st[/SUP] thing they brought me to Dallas 3 days early for orientation, then 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] of all their dorm rooms looked like jail cells nothing like posted on their web site. I do give a plus to my trainer I had to go with part of the refresher course. I just got lucky!! And got a good trainer and got my own truck in 3 ½ weeks. Most trainers at FFE use a driver that is refreshing and has had driving experience before for the full six weeks of OTR road training. You know the money thing! Now the big kicker! Out of 4 months driving I have had only 1 week with over 2000 miles. 29cpm is very low pay these days for 1[SUP]st[/SUP] year driving. I have spent more time waiting on loads upwards to 1 ½ days to 3 days plus very long delays getting unloaded. Biggest burn is when you get a good pre plan load 9 out of 10 times its canceled and given to a Driver trainer / Owner operator or Lease driver. Company drivers get all the left overs scents company drivers are on forced dispatch where others are not. Don’t take much of a brain to do the math 29cpm x 2000miles = 580.00 minus travel advances of 160.00 per week and your taxes?? You make less than minimum wage on a 70 hour week. So if you want to get screwed give FFE a call.

You got that right. You should not have to pay for anything to get the truck fixed. It is the companies responsibility to make sure the truck is safe to issue to the drivers, but it is the drivers responsibility to make sure the truck is safe to drive.

I personally know acetraveler and know what he went through with FFE. Yes maybe he could have got his scripts in another way. But FFE used the excuse we don't have any freight going that way to get the guy home for days off. He spent his training on the east coast for over 6 weeks with the FEMA thing and his trainer burned him for miles. All the other refreshers only spent two to three weeks with their trainer. Then when acetraveler was assigned his own truck Oh a piece of junk it was. Before he could even drive it, it had to be put in the shop for repairs, which cost him 2 days down time plus a load going towards his home. After his truck came out of the shop and he finally got a load that very 1[SUP]st[/SUP] day the truck broke down again. The guy spent more time in freightliner shops than he drove the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] 4 weeks he had the truck. He lost loads going towards his home cuz of truck break downs. These problems could have been resolved if FFE would have their trucks truly checkout before assigning to a driver(s). FFE only cleans the trucks some what, when a driver is no longer assigned to it, and then puts the truck out on the available truck lot for the next driver.

How you figure FFE / Frozen Food Express is successful: Have you not read their financial report?? That is what most of the drivers are asking the company. Old timers with a service record over 10 years with FFE are asking the same thing as well. The employees have been put on a gag order not to talk to any drivers about what happen in January 2013. Roomer is the head CEO was arrested for a DUI in Texas witch is a felony, plus there stocks took a big hit on NASDAQ. Their financial report is not that great either. The company has not reported a profit in over six years, plus losing one of their biggest customers, Hershey.

Thank you for defending me Pigsooie, at last on of my true friends have seen what I went through with FFE. I still can't believe that FFE was such a great company back in the 90's, but now they are nothing but a company that does NOT care about their drivers safety, All they are looking for is the payout from the loads they haul. FFE is NOT professional and the people who work for them are mindless and blind. FFE has gotten to the pint where they think they are too big to fail, but remember too big to fail means too big to allow. Once the truth gets out about how horrible they treat their drivers, they will be force to make some big changes. Hopefully starting with the higher echelon.
