Oh yeah, I forgot to say TMC is a great company. Or did I say that already. Well, I can't say it too much.
-

-
Before-Tax Deductions:

There are no uniforms. You can buy TMC branded merchandice from the Company store. It is priced retail, no great bargins, nor is it over priced. -
jb hunt of flatbeds, i don't think so. i have been looking at trucking companies for over a year now, just to be sure of what i wanted. I'm not going with trucking because i have to , but because i want to. I've talked with more companies and drivers than i care to list at this time, even gone to truck stops and talked to drivers face to face. Ive met drivers who were super nice, and some that will be planted face down so they can see where their going. i've looked at pulling dry vans, tankers, and finally decided on flatbed because I'll like the driving, and work/exercise part of the job. after talking with many drivers, Ive set my sites on TMC. the recruiters that Ive talked to have all been super nice, and have answered every question, and there have been many, with a smile in there voice. Ive spoken with probably 12 to 15 TMC drivers, one of them a regular visitor here, very polite and intelligent fellow, look forward to meeting you in person eckz. I'm not even going into there equipment everyone already knows its top notch. i even got prehired with them before i payed for my CDL school. All of there people, and i know its a small percentage of the total, that i have met, have been nice , well spoken , clean in their appearance, and have all taken great pride in there company that they drive for. do i think its perfect, I'm sure its not, but I'm looking forward to finding out first hand. thanks lee

TMC switched from BC/BS to Allstate? Wow!
BTW, I think you guys will like TMC. The pay is good, the equipment is top notch. Yeah, there is a 10% in every company so not all dispatchers and FM's are good people. There are a few who apparently are missing a few marbles in their brain housing group. There are also a few trainers (like mine) who are complete slobs, and could care less about nothing but their own paycheck. Training a newbie was my trainers last concern. I left the door open though, and will likely go back. Obviously, I will not be with that pig/dog of a trainer.
As far as trying to cram five loads per week into the truck, if you can do it with short hauls, great. If you cant, you cant. My trainer pretty much told his dispatcher to go do something explicitly sexual to himself. He told me he doesnt work for the dispatcher, he works for the truck and the company. I agree with him on that one, 100%. If your tired, stop and sleep, let them know via Qualcomm. Running unsafe is just stupid. NO load in the world is worth my life or the life of that family beside me in the passing lane. -
Unless I missed something, the Allstate part is just the add on you can choose...they switched from "quack" AFLAC..me personally am still on the AFLAC plan.
The regular health plan is still BC/BS (Blus Cross Blue Shield)
Or atleast those are the only med cards I have. -
Yes, TMC still uses BC/BS. Allstate is supplemental insurance. For instance if you are hurt and put on light duty, Iowa workmans comp. mandates that you stay at TMC in Des Moines, IA to receive your benifits. They will send you home every couple of weeks. I have heard of some drivers living in that hotel for six months. Allstate would allow me to go home and still recieve insurance so I don't have to stay in DM.

Ahhh!
No. We still have BC/BS. The allstate is an extra add on, like an aflac thing. It's voluntary.
Um. The jbhunt of flatbeds...That doesn't even deserve a comment, lol. The thing that Terry is trying to say is that, statements without facts to back them up aren't worth the breath that it takes to mumble them. So, if you can't add an intelligent argument, you're not helping anyone here, and are therefore in the wrong place.
I'm willing to bet that you're just another one of those kids that simply couldn't cut it doing any "real work". And blame the company for your laziness. Ofcourse, that's just my opinion and we all know what opinions are like.
Yes, i will be the first to admit (And many will tell you) that TMC does have it's bad points. But i would never compare it to jb, swift, etc. They have always treated my family as if it was theirs, and i am compensated well for the work that i do. Yes, i admit, they could be more "on the ball" when it comes to paying their drivers detention, they could pay more for tarping.. but who cares? After 6 months, tarping will take you 10-15 minutes.. That's 10 bucks for that amount of time.. That's almost 60 bucks an hour if you break it down... Stop focusing on all this "bad", it could be alot worse.
Some people just simply aren't going to be happy, no matter who they work for, and, in my opinion those people need to stay away from here, and scaring good drivers from driving for who they are excited to go with.. You never know, they just might like it.
