Never took it that way but thanks! I'm not trying to "sell" Sammons,,,just telling what I think. ANY company that provides a service deserves to be paid for that service. The burden of deciding whether the service is worth the cost is on the customer. (you or me) These companys work for us. Not the other way round! I'm happy with what I get for my money from Sammons. If I wasn't I'd cut-em-loose right now.

Far as the original quest,,,I'd find a company that takes care of you OR hire a "load finder" person to find and book your loads. It's real hard to drive the truck, search for loads, book them, bill them, pay the fuel bills, insurance, truck payment, house money etc. NOW, while yer waitin' for the money to come 30-45-60-90 days later. That 25% a company takes is well worth it IMO cause they do all this for ya.

I'm not saying don't run yer own authority! I am saying that it ain't easy and a good lease will make you money.

Another thing about Sammons, When I book a ld from a broker, I go through the H.H. office. They do not get an extra commison like an agent does..
Sammons just get their cut. When I figure a rate, I also figure in their cut to the bid..

So are you saying that if you book a load through an agent you get 75% of the gross (as a number) BUT if you call a broker and book the load yourself and have Sammons HH office do the paperwork that you now get 80% of the gross (again as a number).

No, My percentage is 77% as I have a seven axle setup. Their base pay starts depending on your number of axles. More axles your % is higher.
But if I go through an agent for a ld. off the internet, they also figure in a cut. They have one agent that used to bug me all the times with lds. when I first started.I then found the same lds. from ld. boards, so I asked about this and was told they get a small cut, plus the cut Sammons does.
So unless it's an agents load per say. I just go through the H.H. office... Why should I pay an agent a fee as well as the company for something the company's H.H. office can do and save a few bucks...
