I finally made it home!!! I was beginning to think they had forgotten about me. Even the dogs are glad to see me.
I as sound asleep in the truck when my phone went off. I 1030 last night. They wanted me to repower a guy who had picked up a load headed to Boise and he broke down at the TA on I 90. I jumped at it. I listened to the weather and road report on the way over. They called for about an inch of snow over the night and up to 5 inches the next day. I really wanted to get over the pass before the snow it. The load was only 7500lbs so that bothered me a bit.
I picked up the load and off I went. The fog was horrible. Once I hit I82 it was pea soup fog and black ice. I was going up one hill and felt the drive tires slipping. I sure didn't want to stop on the hill. At one point, just before daylight, I was behind two other trucks traveling 3mph on black ice. Not long after that the road got better and I made better time. Anyway, the dispatch said the load couldn't be delivered until 1800 but, it also said not to wait until then and to just drop it. I called ahead. They had no idea the load was coming, I could drop it anytime and they were good with it.
I got to Sears and the parking lot was covered in ice. I thought I was going to have to chain up just to dock the trailer. Finally got it done, hooked the empty and dropped it at the yard.
My final miles for the month are pretty close to 9500 give or take 50. In addition the previous post about the months take home, this last trip will add another $75 to the total bringing it up to about $2k for my first month. -
I bet it feels great to be home finally. Glad to hear you got back safely. How many days home time are they allowing you?

I have 2 more tests to pass before I head to Swift. I'm hoping to get them passed this week so that I can start school next week. I only know people who work for Swift. Don't know any other truckers who work for any other reputable trucking companies.
