Hey trying to find the reg that states what makes a load oversize. I understand its more than 48 inches overhang off back right? Where is this regulation found?

EDIT: Also I just realized my topic sounds like I'm going to talk about drinking, so I figured I'd get that out before anyone beats me to it.

Each state is different..... most use the 53' total load lenght tho. If the load is over 53' long, then it need permits.

Which states are you looking to run in???

Well my load is exactly 48 inches over the end of the trailer. From TX to WI. It's a 48' Flatbed. Just wanted make to see official rules. :)

Ca. measures from the trailer proper, NOT the rub rail.

48" over will put you at 52' long. You're good to go, just checked the books. I would highly reccommend putting a red flag on the end of the load tho so nobody runs into you at a light and be careful backing up into a parking spot, might want to take the back row as most other drivers will back into your load.

Yeah it's red flagged. Did you find that in FMCSR? I'm worried about getting backed into though for sure. Going to find a spot without truck parking behind it.

Length and width regulations are controlled by each state, not the FMCSA.
