So next Tuesday or Wednesday I start with a FedEx ground contractor.

My friend from trucking school already works for him and loves it. 5 days out 2 home or 7 out 3 home. Teams of course.

I have met the contractor and he is a stand up guy.

    Ill keep ya all posted:biggrin_255:

FedEx does not allow contractors to pay by 1099 anymore. FedEx Ground contractors have to take out taxes. If they don't and fedex finds out they can loose their contract. We have to file state and federal taxes for our employees even for part time drivers or floaters that don't work for a specific contractor they just run for whoever needs them.

I'm amazed that Fed-Ex used their leverage on their contractors. Maybe they grew tired of the negative publicity their contractors were attracting for them.

i worked for a contractor with fed-ex out of greenville sc. he gave no benefits at all. hired me at one price but paid something else. when i ask him about it the reason he gave me caused me to hand him his keys back. i worked for him for 1 month. but as far as fed-ex it self i liked it i was home ever day.

I wondered about that . FedEx Ground got rid of single truck contracts to avoid having truck owners classified as employees . The same terms would apply to drivers for contractors .
