I run family dolllar.with jb hunt its the toughest account in the company but they pay you for it and treat you well got to have experience to get on here they just changed the requirements down to 6 months though . I would say drive a year before trying this the navigateing and backing situations are a lot harder than normal .

I don't drive or work for Metropolitan, but I'll say this. Most major carriers, unless you're running a dedicated customer like one of the dollar stores, is predominantly a no-touch carrier.

Dont expect to make over 30k per year at metropolitan. They expect to hire 450 new hires to cover a 325 truck fleet. They say no owner ops, not thru metropolitan, they have a separate brokerage-heavy stuff goes to outside carriers- light stuff and hazmat goes to company drivers. They say they're safe and that is true, but doesnt account for triple fatality in tn 2 and a half years ago or 5 year anniversary of a longtime driver died when he lost his brakes. (driver errors???) if you can navigate well you do the most load assignments-no drop and hook pay- and if you're a minority driver, never, ever expect better pay for loyalty, length of service or safety. ...they primarily make thier money on tax code rite-offs for hiring and processing new drivers....when that tax break expires, the driver gets starved out. A dm there can "do you with impunity' as they are harder to come by. Customer service will leave you hanging for an appointment time, and they bait you with pre-plans to rush you for loads with no appointments. You have to avoid toll roads, primarily buckeye and 76 WEST of carlise pa also njtp south of exit 7. On equipment they're better than average so if you don mind a 6 month to 1 year seat or less than $30,000 per year with regular hometime its an o.k. Gig. Too many drivers in this industry and they take full advantage.

I just had contact with a recruiter... I looked at their pay scale... 350 miles.... $154, 450 miles.... $166.50 It isn't the drivers that need to be drug tested..

Can you explain to me how you make money... when I looked at a pay sheet that I just received from a recruiter showed me that if I drove 350 miles I would make $154 @.44 cents a mile... but if I drove 450 Miles I would make $166.50 @.37 cents a mile.... that's 1.75 hour drive time for $12.50 or 12.5 cents a mile.... I don't get it.
