Starbucks is my favorite coffee, McDonald's is second. I will look for a Starbucks travel mug next time I'm at one .

Well that depends on what ya drinking through it! A Denny's milkshake is going to require a straw of a larger diameter to accommodate the blended pieces of Oreo in it. Whereas a cup of pop only requires your standard straw.
The big question is " With or without the bendy bit in the straw?" LOL

Thermos brand makes a nice travel coffee mug; narrow enough at the bottom to fit most standard auto cup holders. Has a screw on lid with a moveable tab to drink from and a handle high enough up so it doesn't interfere with the auto's cup holder. Non-slip grip, too. I picked ours up at a WaWa, but I believe most truck stops would carry it.

I bought a 20 oz Stainless mug from the T/A about 10 or so years ago....looks exactly like this one. It has sustained repeated drops from standing-on-the-top-step height down onto asphalt, gravel, concrete, and whatever other surfaces I've parked on when I'm trying to carry stuff back into the house at the end of the day. It has been in the bed of my pickup when I forgot about it & tossed my Hi-Lift jack in on top of it. It has been subjected to all sorts of torture over the years and while it has a few dents & dings...and the rubber O-rings are long gone from the outside....and the T/A logo rubbed off years ago....it still keeps my coffee hot and the lid lets me drink without dribbling (has a rubber gasket between the lid & cup), sufficiently vented so it pours smoothly into my mouth...basically everything a coffee mug SHOULD be. It is just a push-on lid, though...not a twist-on...so if you drop it while it's full, the lid WILL pop off...but I really haven't found that to be problematic. I've thought about trying to find another one just like it to have just in case I ever do succeed in destroying this one, but it'd probably sit there on the shelf for another 10 years because this is one tough mug.

The problem I have with most disposable cups is that they are weak...I've had them crack when I went to pick them up & spill their contents all over the floor of the truck....not to mention, the coffee doesn't stay as hot for as long as it does in my travel mug...so when I HAVE to use a disposable cup, I usually try to double them up for extra strength & insulation. The lids are rarely as good as my travel mug, too...allowing coffee to splash out if the cup is too full, or they leak, or they aren't properly vented, etc. I absolutely HATE using disposable cups.

Not all travel mugs are created equal. I've bought several others through the years...some a little bigger, others a different shape (wider base to sit on the dash of the pickup since it doesn't have any cupholders)...and never really found one I like as much as the old 20 oz stainless I've been using for so long. Usually, my problem lies in the lid design. Either it doesn't seal as tight, or it isn't vented very well, or the lip design tends to dribble....they just aren't right.

Oh well....I've probably already rambled on here too much already.

See this is a topic people can talk about! Every day people are cursing at their poorly designed coffee vessels and wondering how they can improve the situation . TTR is for all of life's problems, no matter how trivial or insignificant!!!
