Why don't you just get regerested and put on the road before you get there maybe grab a load why you are there to come back make sense to pay for the trip back just my two cent good luck and Congrats on the New truck

I have a list of all the states that require trip permits and the phone numbers for DOT when I am doing transporter work. If you would like it let me know and I can scan it into the computer and email it to you.

You can pay a company to deliever it to you or pick it up yourself. Just picked up a tractor in NC and brought it home on the 30 day temp tag the dealer gave me. Went through 5 scales got the bypass at all but one. You should be fine however you will need insurance on the truck before the dealer will let it leave the lot.
SHC Thanks this. -
Cold Iron is a Wrecker Company. When i Bought my Schneider Tractor on my Picture, y needed Insurance, Permit to drive through Georgia down to Florida, Registration on my name, so Schneider recomemded this Company that does this for them when People like me buy their tractor. It was cheaper for me to have them Pick it up and deliver to my house. How they work? they charged me $750.00 for 450 miles from Atlanta to Tampa fl. They Fuel it, they will pay if the tire blows on their wathc, the driver pulls a car dolly haulung his car. Thats how he go back. It's a good system and that gave me enough time to work on my insurance, tags, heavy highway tax etc.. If yor try to run that truck illegal through the Scales, you get caught and you will pay 10 times more!
SHC and mesamale22 Thank this. -
Are they nationwide? I need to get my truck from PA to TX? Also my first truck will be from the Schneider. Sucks with them not being a dealer they wont do any temp plates or permits.

Also to go with this post. Do I really need a permit for each of the states that I will be going through? Since it is just only the truck with no load? The states that I will need to go through will be Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania

How was your experience buying a Schneider Tractor? I am looking to buy a tractor to pull containers here locally in Cleveland. They seem to keep pretty good maintenance on their equipment when I worked for them about 5 years ago. ThanksSHC Thanks this.
