Hi all.
I'm 53 yrs. old and starting a new career. I have been in construction all my life, started my own company 10 yrs ago and life was pretty good. But two yrs. ago business started slowing down. And last year I had to layoff my crew. I tried to keep it going but it was taking a toll on my body and I just was'nt bringing home enough $$ to make it worth it.
So I decided I would have to make a change. I couldn't afford to go back to school for a year or more. And my brother was making a good living driving. So I got a loan thru a driving school.
Graduated driving school and got my cdl/a on the last day of last year. I spent countless hours researching companies and filling out applications. Finally found one that I felt would be a good fit. And started Orientation Two weeks ago. Took them a week to match me with a trainer and I should finally be on the road today, YEAAAHHH!!!! Can't wait.
I found this site last week and have learned more here than anything I learned at driving school, orientation or all those "countless hours researching". A special thanks to Sammy69 and all those who gave him "advice". As it turns out I am going to the same company as Sammy. Probably wouldn't have gone there if I had read his experience first. Or if I knew how to look up CSA scores. Buy I still think it is a good fit for me. And thanks to Sammy and this site it will make me a better driver.
A little long winded for an intro post. Looking forward to posting more in the future and to continue reading and learning.
PS. In case u couldn't tell by my screen name I will be starting my new career on Flat Beds![]()
