OK....just started training last week...on sat. I got what I'm sure would be considerd a "bad luck load"...first off...the weight was over, 2 hrs to repack....then we head out of FT. Worth on way to Baton Rouge...on the way a doped out driver slams into the back of the trailer (ya...I'm driving,3rd day)..she goes into the medium totaled...another car that was about to pass me on left gets freaked, skids into the grass then swerves in front of me....I see nothing but their roof, hit brakes and amazingly don't slam them forward...get the truck off the road...i run forward to check on the car that was in front of us and my trainer goes back to check on the corsica..half a dozen cars pull over. the corsica looks like someone opened the right half of it with a can opener...the driver who just missed getting decapitated is sceaming bloody hell about how the truck cut her off and she has a wittness...OK..I got a whole bunch off folks filling out reports telling the truth.....2 & 1/2 hours later we get going....can't make it to B.R by now and crash (bad term) for the nite...get to the reciever Sun. and get a 6 hr unload, and guess what...it's missing 22 cases...chicken wings...Super Bowl next weekend....Hmmmm sound funny to me......get away frm that mess and then sit all day today waiting for something leaving the area...think we might be better off up north.....

I'll leave the OTR stuff to you guys. Like they said, it can only get better from here. learn as much as you can, and be a defensive driver.

You will learn to spot these problems before they happen. Its part of survival. As far as the shortage, if it was a live load then its on you, if its a preload, or shipper load you must note it on the BOL when you pick up the load. Most shipper hate it when you write shipper load and count, but if they loaded and counted they should mind, but they do

About all I can say is that it's not always like that. LOL. You got the bad one out of the way right from the start. If you made it through that, the rest of them will be pretty easy in comparison. Hang in there, and best of luck in the future!
