Never hurts to inquire when an unloading seems delayed. Did it once at Georgia Pacific in Santa Teresa, NM. Turns out the forklift operator mistakenly thought mine was a dropped trailer and not a live unload.

Yes I did inquire to make sure they didn't forget me and they said they would get to it.
-
Well, they got to it didn't they??? LOL!!!!
-
It still doesn't mean you'll get unloaded first.

These places suck. Thankfully I work for a private carrier who blatantly states on delivery forms "Appropriate unloading time determined by driver. Driver can/will unload freight and breakdown to customer's wishes or a lumber maybe used at the expense of Consignee"
we are all decent with the time we let guys take and I have never had an issue with unloading taking to long except once when I was chatty with the guy next to me and I took longer then I wanted.
Yes this arrangement means we do work MOST drivers won't do (breakdowns suck) BUT its fast and atleast I know the company values my time and makes sure shippers and receivers do as well. -
God knows I'm glad I sold that van and went back to my flatbed!
My p/u apointment is any time between 0700 & 1600 on Wednesday...del. apointment is any time before noon on Saturday!
Gotta love it.
