Started orientation with Melton last Monday, and today I delivered my first load. Everything has gone smoothly and I think I've finely found a company I'm going to be happy with. All the other drivers are friendly and helpful as well as the office personnel. I'm picking up a load of steel coil tomorrow so I'm hoping everything continues to run smoothly!

US Steel in Detroit

Never been to that one. Most US Steels you check in no more than a half hour before your appt tho. Gotta answer 3 questions, don't get one wrong or you're kicked off property for 24 hours. They are easy tho, you should have had to call your DM today, who woulda asked you the questions.

Are you doing a lease with Melton??? i did in 2007 and they treat you as a company driver and tried to force you in doing what they want.L et me tell you what happen in Feb of 2007.I went to Waterloo,Ny to delv a load.Oswego,Ny had a massive snow storm of 11 feet that month. They tried to force me into going to oswego,ny to pick up a load. They had company drivers up there also.To make things short,i refused to go into Oswego for safety reasons. There was restricted travel and a state of emergency in that area.DOT and Law enforcement were telling everyone to stay out of the area.I talked to a few company drivers and they were told if they refused to go,they would be fired on the spot.As a lease driver i had that option i was told in orientation.i refused to go into that area as did other lease drivers.Guess what??? i was told if i didnt go up there and get the load,i would set there til the sun didnt shine anymore and wait for the snow to melt.I deadheaded back home,850 miles, they got thier truck and trailer back quick. You ever go to Oswego,ny to pick up a coil of aluminum, make real sure you put the tarp on so that none of the bunngie cords rub a hole in it,If your doing a lease,or they will definately charge you the damage charges.Oh...and those loads go to laredo.Tx where you will set two days or more waiting to get out with a load.i set there 3 days a few times.doing a lease wasnt worth it.Good luck with this company tho.Just dont do a lease with them. And if you are, good luck again.
