One of the best looking trucks on the market, is it Detroit diesel motors throughout the range?

    it is engines from om936 ,om470,471 ,473

i would not like to call that detroit all those engines are mtu , since epa2010 come earlier than euro6 those engines had their test in america and japan before , also mercedes probably dont want to put untested product on road since they fail a lot on first generation of actros and they need 5-6-7 years to get good reputation again

interesting is to hear that om473 would have 2500nm of torque just above idle speed and max operating range would be at just 1600rpm

also mercedes would introduce something like man hydrodrive

and looks like they will also put zf vg2700 transfer box in their trucks after iveco and scania (that is worlds strongest transfer box , carry 33000 of input torque)

no only trucks in mines sometimes have this, but each tipper need incline piece at top of headboard, it is to protect gearbox from eventually something , also when you are at excavation and excavator load you from behind they usually push load forward ,which everybody hate, so you have small protection there

according to our standard truck can withstand 3300lbs on cab roof and doors still can open , so i would say no need for this , also many trucks have larger distance between cab and tipper with vertical exhaust and air intake so many trucks have 50cm distance or more

but about that new arcos i found many small things which are not good , first too large front lights i more like what MAN did when it put small and simple lights on tippers , also they are bit unprotected at corners and "shallow"-they should be deeper

second those mirrors would be very very expensive they could make something simplier ,bumper and steps look expensive to replace....

there is no step on fender and arm handrail on cab to check load .....

for my taste silencer is too large and fuel tank should be on right side but no space for it (right because when you are unloading rocks on left side if truck dont have bordmatik rocks can damage fuel tank )

also i notice how stupid solution of exhaust is,,,,, first pipe go from engine to silencer which is very far on right than another pipe return to vertical exhaust but next to wheels , too much pipes and they are unprotected,( usually when truck is working on excavation and get from hole on 30 or+ % ramp, you need to push it hard to get out and exhaust get pretty hot and at exit from construction site they always wash wheels , they would spray at those pipes and limit their lifetime....that was already seen many times on mercedes

Not a bad looking truck. Lots of wheel articulation on the front suspention but like all euro trucks too heavy, especially for the Australian agitator market.
