So I made it to my motel room. I was supposed to take the greyhound this morning out of Sacramento. Last night I decided to fly in. I would have been on the bus from 8:40am to 7:20pm. An hour in the air was much more appealing to me. I used some of my girlfriends miles to get my ticket so it didn't cost anything. I emailed my recruiter and let her know. I haven't heard back from her so I imagine she was ok with that. If the ticket isn't refundable I'll gladly pay for it since I made the last minute switch.
Now I'm just sitting here reading my favorite forum and waiting on my roommate. I hope he doesn't snore. My girlfriend snores so loud. I am looking forward to getting some solid sleep. I do miss my son already though. He's 18 months. Anyways, thats all I got for now. I'll update tomorrow after my Pre-work screens.

Today was the first day of orientation. Got up at 4:30. Took advantage of my free continental breakfast (scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, an apple and a banana. Everyone was instructed to be out front and that the bus would leave at 5:25am. We loaded on the bus. All but 2 guys were there. They got left behind. The driver/instructor made a comment about being an adult. I like his attitude. Those 2 guys were cut. 2 down, 18 remaining.
We arrived at the Fontana OC at 5:45am. Sat in the cafeteria until 6am and were led to the classroom. We spent the morning filling out paperwork and performing our pre-work screen. It was a breeze. Unless you're really really out of shape you're going to pass. The formula they use is 220 minus your age times .9. That is the maximum your heart rate can go before they ax you. My magic number was 165. I never broke 100. Very easy.
We broke for lunch at 11:00am. At 12pm we finished up our paperwork and were released for the day. I was back in my room by 2:30. All the employees there were nice and had positive attitudes. I can tell they really want us to succeed and if we dont its not because we weren't given the chance and encouragement to do so. -

I hope everything works out for me. I'm a semi young fatty (late 20's) and I just got my blood pressure under control with medication. My BP went from 140/90 to under 120/80 with a resting heart rate of 70. And I never exercise so I guess I need to do some jogging, a few push ups and some sit ups.

Day 2 - Today we were taught about paper logs. It went by fairly fast. They're not hard as long as you understand the 11, 14 and 70 hour rule. After logs we got our new boots. They're good boots and very comfortable. Not bad for $25. After getting our boots were were broke up into groups of 6. We rotated through backing, coupling/uncoupling and using the simulator. Lunch followed
After lunch we went through our air test and then hit the road. There were two of us per truck. We practiced up shifting and down shifting. It was a long but productive day. So far I'm very pleased to have chosen and been chosen by Schneider. I think they're a good company so far. Cant believe how friendly everyone is. Thats all for now. I got some studying to do then off to bed.
