somehow it does not look that ugly as actros , or even worse new fh
but it will be expensive to fix those vulnerable things
in europe lightest mixer is renault premium lander with weight of 8800kg,and lighter mixer body is stetter 8m3 with 3300kg 9m3 is 3500kg but i am not sure did they count water in this or not
here those light mixers just appeared on marked,
we prefer real stuff like 10m3 mixers build on heavy chassis , when such truck load 11m3 and water it weights about 42t
tell me again how does weight typical australian chassis and drum? i forget and how did they get such weight , what is so light on them
and how they withstand terrain and weight , and how much is allowed weight?

well
at least two more of them would be saved from italians(for those outside of europe , italians are crazy about scania , almost every scania there is v8 , they put tons of money in those trucks but unfortunately italians are gypsies and they dont have taste so they put lot of ugly chromed and inox parts on those trucks , some of trucks are unrecognisable, and usually italians buy complete limited edition of scania ) and even worst is that guys here wont copy italians and they put same crap on our trucks... -
What kind of hp/ torque #s are the scania v8s ? ?

This is my new truck that went on the road last month
Kenworth t359, cummins isle5 400hp, roadranger 14909-ALL, Kenworth ag400 8 bag rear suspention, danna 46000lb axels with 4.88:1 diff ratio, load share parabolic front springs, low profile 275/70 r22.5 tyres
The truck tares at 10,620kg full fuel and 200L water and me in it. The cab-chassis was 7580kg so the agitator is 3040kg and is a 7.6m3 bowl
With an 4 axel truck we can go 12t on the steers and 17.5t on the drives but only up to 28.5t gross, a five axel truck can go to 32t, we can't go past these weights at all.
This gives me a maximum payload of 7.6m3. No truck can carry more than this as the kw is the lightest. But most american trucks can still get 7.6m3. 5 axel trucks are getting 8.4m3.
Kenworths run single chassis rails with alluminium cross members, we don't like to run double chassis rails in this application becuase the water and crap get between them and rust them out.
Mack, Kenworth and freightliner run single rails and iveco accos run double on the front only. I have never had a problem with any of my kenworths chassis or cross member, have had other brands rust the chassis and had a couple of broken cross members.
The Mack metroliners with the Volvo chassis are having problems. When the first came out becuase the Volvo chassis is 30mm taller and the Volvo front suspention is taller they had to redesign the bowls and so plants so they could fit under them. Also they are flexing too much and are cracking the chassis' on the bowls. I have seen 2 different brands crack and one completely snap and the bowl nearly fell off the trucks. I have never seen this with any other brand of truck.98989 Thanks this. -

hey thanks a lot for explanation
may i ask where is water tank?
since i dont know anything about that gearbox i was searching about it and find out that this is very very slow gearbox , tell me when you are in very low gears is there any torque limiting to prevent damage , i mean that gearbox carry 1966Nm x 26.08=51,27kNm that is a lot for driveline and such slow transmission can make "clearance" with jerks
another question is about air suspension , here mixer truck no matter how light it is always have steel suspension MAN gone that far and offers 2 leaf parabolic spring , now mercedes gone that far to fit truck drive axles with 385/65r22.5 single tires to save additional 350kg comparing twin 315/80 but it is not air
how is with stability and air? i have seen only one mixer with air suspension and it was before tractor for heavy haulage
another question tires 275/70 are they too low for offroad , here only city busses use that tires on construction truck tires smaller than 315/80 dont exist , from time to time you can see 12r22.5 or 295/80 but very very rare
as for weight here 4axle truck can have 32t but country allows 3% overload if truck was not scaled so 32000+3%=32960kg light mixer with 8m3 drum is possible to get as 12400kg that allows you to load 9m3 without problems
since australia is wider than europe is there many tractor+semitrailer mixers?
here now this become more and more popular
2axle tractor with 2axle semitrailer , total allowed weight of 38t , very short and compact , have lot better turning radius than 8x4, cost about same ,registration is just little more expensive
this one is 15480kg empty ,if trailer is fitted with 385/65 and alloy rims this would save additional 250kg , 250kg can be saved on smaller cab ,50kg on gearbox 80kg on lighter diff, and 180kg with air suspension, 40kg without vertical exhaust pipe(also possible to get scania without exhaust pipe just exit near silencer dont know how much does it save but for sure about 40-50kg, egr 400hp(-112kg) 300L fuel tank(-100kg)... it would be possible to lower it down 14400kg so 11m3 could be easy transported......
now bad thing , 4x4 is very problematic vehicle , high center of gravity , uncomfortable , bad fuel economy and always is something wrong with front wheel drive , (when truck get in age it cost to maintain it twice more than vehicle without front wheel drive)......so in this segment of trucks 2axle tractors with 2axle semitrailers man with hydrodrive is dominating on market , also it is 500kg lighter than conventional 4x4
Down under trucker Thanks this. -
The water tank is mounted on the right hand side. Good for easy access for filling. Some trucks have them mounted like yours above the barrel gearbox, but not many.
Yes the 9all is a slow speed gearbox but only in the 3 low low gears. From 1st gear to 8th it has the same, or very close to the same ratios as the 13 and 18 speeds it just doesn't have the splitter in those gears.
No the truck doesn't have any torque limiting, and actually it is very smooth in those low gears but the truck does have a strong driveline. But really torque limiting isn't needed. In Australia we pull 64.5t b-doubles with only 46000lb diffs and driveline and never have any problems, and this truck has the same drive line as those trucks. Only in weights above 90t do they start upgrading the driveline, diffs and engine mounts ect.
Also this truck has has other wight saving features like aluminium hubs aswell.
Not too long ago, maybe 15 years, all trucks had spring suspension, now nearly all have airbags. We never have a problem with airbags. While springs for off-road are better, with the proper airbag setup they are just as good if not better in some circumstances, like sand and we have alot of sand in aus. We spec all our trucks with dual ride height control valves which gives the truck excellent stability. You can see them beside the airbags in this pic.
Also airbag setups are lighter aswell so this is another advantage. I find airbag setups more stable than springs, I have had a few scary moments going through corners in spring trucks becuase when you are on the limit going trough corners and you hit a bump they have a tendency to to throw you further off balance where an airbag truck will soak up and smooth out the bump.
But ultamitly it comes down to where the truck works, if it was out in the bush and doing a lot of off road then you might spec springs, but anywhere else, airbags are a better choice.
Some trucks even run airbag front axels aswell. But I don't like these as they are too "floaty" and don't give much feedback through the steering wheel as too what the front tyres are doing.
275/70 profile tyres are small and they do have a bit less ground clearence but it hasn't been a problem for us and we have a few trucks on them. But these are mainly city trucks and they do go off road a bit on sites but they are mainly on road trucks. 11r22.5 is the standard tyre over here, only 6x4's run 295/80 on the front axel for weight reasons to get 6.5t on the steer which they are allowed to carry now. Our trucks that run in the country or do more off road have 11r's on them. We don't run big tyres like you guys becuase we don't carry the axel weights like you and they arn't needed.
Also 275/70 save around 100kg on a truck and are cheaper to replace so that is why we have them and the trucks handle like they are on rails. They are actually starting to become very popular even with highway trucks becuase with the right diff ratios they get very good fuel economy.
Also our Crete must be heavier than yours becuase with those weights you gave we could only put about 8.7m3 on a truck. Our lightest concrete mixes are about 2.35t/m3 and go up from there as the strength of the mix increases. My truck can carry 17.88t which gives me 7.6m3, that is up too 32mpa anything over that it comes down too 7.4m3. We only get a leeway of 250kg over limit,
Anything more we get fined by the dot.
We do have semi trailer mixers but they are not popular. They are too hard to maneuver in tight places in the city and a rigid truck is much easier. Even 5 axel 10x4 trucks are not very popular in the city becuase of this. 8x4 is the best bang-for-buck truck. Also registration is very expensive for a semi, 10k versus 2.5k for a rigid and they are a lot more expensive to buy. A rigid mixer is about 50k and a trailer mixer is about 100k. The ones that we do have run in the country where they have to travel long distances.

The thing that is different with this example to yours is it has a trailer mounted engine to drive the agitator, not pto driven off the truck so this adds extra weight.98989 Thanks this. -
How many m3 do you think that trailer mixer is in your post? ?
Back in the day we had some 20yd Londons behind R model Macks . You'd get thrown in jail now . LoL
