Your comparison for van versus flat is counting on 100% drop and hook with a van. Not the untold hours and hours of waiting you will do with a van if you do live load/unloads.
I'll still pull a flat.
And folks like Maverick pay better than .31 a mile.

If you are out of the Dallas terminal you'll like it. They have a nice cafeteria with decent food and a store there as well. There are only a handful of terminals that have these services.
The training is good but if there is any way you can get your CDL prior to going to Schneider you'll be better off for it. I didn't have to do a contract with them and was glad, as I quit after two months with them. Another guy I trained with is also leaving at the end of this month and it's all due to payroll issues. Talked to him yesterday and he had been out 3 weeks...his paycheck on Friday was a dismal $284...bottom line is you don't get paid unless your trip paks get in on time. We both sent ours in at the end of the load and they still make excuses and say 'it didn't get there in time'....It's BS. I was also promised a certain amount of pay and when my checks were .02 cents per mile lower they told me that was my rate. Even though I had it in writing to be different they still gave me the shaft.
Training is good but there is a reason that Schneider trains hundreds of drivers every month across the country, the turnover rate is ridiculous.
I feel for those that have to sign a contract!! -
Out of 24 in my class, 9 graduated. That should tell you about the intensity of it. The class prior to mine and the class after had very similar numbers. -
Couldn't have said it better myself! The pay rate per mile might sound good for a newb but the bottom line is that they rarely pay you correctly. -
Schneider does not take good care of their trailers imho. -
