Your comparison for van versus flat is counting on 100% drop and hook with a van. Not the untold hours and hours of waiting you will do with a van if you do live load/unloads.

    I'll still pull a flat.

And folks like Maverick pay better than .31 a mile.

If you are out of the Dallas terminal you'll like it. They have a nice cafeteria with decent food and a store there as well. There are only a handful of terminals that have these services.

The training is good but if there is any way you can get your CDL prior to going to Schneider you'll be better off for it. I didn't have to do a contract with them and was glad, as I quit after two months with them. Another guy I trained with is also leaving at the end of this month and it's all due to payroll issues. Talked to him yesterday and he had been out 3 weeks...his paycheck on Friday was a dismal $284...bottom line is you don't get paid unless your trip paks get in on time. We both sent ours in at the end of the load and they still make excuses and say 'it didn't get there in time'....It's BS. I was also promised a certain amount of pay and when my checks were .02 cents per mile lower they told me that was my rate. Even though I had it in writing to be different they still gave me the shaft.

Training is good but there is a reason that Schneider trains hundreds of drivers every month across the country, the turnover rate is ridiculous.

I feel for those that have to sign a contract!!

Yep, the training is good if you can hack it. You don't have a lot of time to 'get it' though and if you don't you are out on your ears and still have to pay them for the school.

Out of 24 in my class, 9 graduated. That should tell you about the intensity of it. The class prior to mine and the class after had very similar numbers.

Couldn't have said it better myself! The pay rate per mile might sound good for a newb but the bottom line is that they rarely pay you correctly.

Or the untold hours of trying to find a Schneider trailer that is road worthy. I spent three hours on one lot trying to find a trailer that didn't have something wrong with it. albeit the shipper I was headed to required that it be under 9 years old and completely free of any leaks.
Schneider does not take good care of their trailers imho.

You know better than I do...of those 9 who graduated....how many are still with the comp? I am...and so is...the Big Tall Bald Guy (lol name withheld)

I wish that alot of what I see in my dedicated run would take place with the rest of their stock. I mean, I think our trailers are inspected every year or something like that, and the lift gates (we use lift gate 48ers) are inspected every two months. In this gig, if the trailer is fubar...then Im going to be late which brings our on time percentage down which then is bad for Schneider because they have some contract with the companies we deliver to. So in my area, they are big on making sure the trailers are maintained. I listened to a conf. call a month or so ago and they mentioned something about how they had bought x amount of trailers for this account last year. Too bad that isn't acros the board. OR EVEN, if a trailer was messed up, that they would look at it right away instead of setting it aside. If you go to an OC with your truck and they ask for the trailer number or whatever...it would be nice if they asked if the trailer needed any work. Have a couple of bays at each OC set aside for trailers only.

True, but am I home nightly?

Yeah the dedicated fleet is definately not at the same level of standards as the OTR fleet is and for obvious reasons. They would sure save a lot of drivers time if they simply maintained the trailers.

...and tell "Big Baldy" I said Hello if you run into him! I think about you guys all the time....not in a stalker kind of way...:biggrin_25526:
