you know its not so much that intermodal is killing trucking...its all the stuff that gets shipped in from other countries and the stuff we ship overseas. ive been an o/o for almost 10 years and ive ran intermodal the whole time. do u really think intermodal is taking so much work away from you?

Every rail car with a piggy back rolling on the rail cuts out one more load for the road.

Ummm so you wanna drive to china, Asia, Hawaii or Australia? I haul almost All overseas stuff.

you should blame jb hunt for taking all the loads that go around the us. A lot of the jb loads I do go to Chicago.

Slow season still hasn't caught up to us yet, so I'm very glad of that.

dot is pulling us all over now and asking if we're loaded or empty. If we're loaded he takes out the scales. It's so ridiculous. He even does it to some just leaving the rail yard from a train.

jb hunt schiender and at least here in the midwest hub group do alot of US freight. and all the piggy back on the rail...do u really want that many trucks on the road at one time?? people ##### about trucks enough as it is, if u want to add hundreds and hundreds of more trucks to the road then things will get worse not better.

If the corporate rigs cannot haul it where do you think the loads go over the road? To owner operators is where they go, every rail car kills the industry.

The MI Jacks ( Cranes) on the newer UP yards have a scale on the machine that checks weight on every lift

All the lifts here can weigh the can. You still don't know if all the weight is on one end or the other. And most of the time it's more towards the front.

the next truck I get I'd want a 3 axel just to make sure. Then I shouldn't have to worry at all about weights.

im not goin to argue with u about this..i can see u say uve been a driver for 33 years so ur very old school. ive been a driver for 21 years myself. i enjoy being a local driver and being home at night. from the way u make it sound every load should be on trucks and guys should be otr and not home to see their family except maybe on weekends or a couple days during the week. the thread started out as someone wondering if it was legal what DOT was doin. u had to throw in bashing intermodal and wishing a bunch of guys out of work just so they or someone else would have to live in a truck on the road. we all need jobs, we all need to work to make a living. im not bashing u or what u do so dont bash me and the guys like me that do the same job.
