That's solved easily enough...carry a camera and photograph the qualcomm screen with the messages they're sending asking you to break the law.

Nothing to stop fleet managers or their flunkies to pose as drivers, and call BS. In fact some drivers buy the party line and company manifesto.
They can often be spotted staffing the recruitment bus, or booth at the truck show. Many of them are
`Knights, Counts, Dukes, Lords, (insert your own title), of The Road` and willingly allow themselves to be used by the fleet to lure the unsuspecting and naive. Some fleets call them mentors.
Shades of Watership Down !
They get to wear the special blazer and attend the monthly garage cookout. Free burgers and cokes, yippee, what else can I do boss, post something on that truck site...... -
Good idea, at the time (about 1999) I was naive and never dreamed stuff like this would-could happen. Even when I taped audio of the meeting with CMF Safety manager Blobby, I only got the mini-cassette on the way in from a much older driver. He was jaded and no doubt saw what was about to take place, and unbeknownst to me, did me a favour. Now I`d even have a dash-mounted camera.

Mentors>yeah that's a good handle for them!
Some folks will sell their soul for a free cheeseburger and a blazer with "crests" on it.snafu Thanks this. -
Nice "blazer"

CALGARY ' Trimac driver and Road Knight Dennis Hokanson played tutor to the king yesterday. -
Notice how they name everyone in that group picture with first and last names...except for "Driver Hokanson"...
Guess selling out for the blazer doesn't get one that simple respect.... -
Orlick's Inc., Calgary and Edmonton, AB:
Bad. Not even good enough to be a bad joke, mainly because of how drivers get treated.
Just handed in my 2 weeks' notice today, I have NEVER worked for someone like this before, and believe me, I've seen some fiiiiiiine specimens of douchebag in this crap industry, and in 6-8 years as a courier/messenger/1-tonne local freight-buster before that.
Do you like being treated like absolute garbage by a spoiled millionaire's teenaged kid in a 50+ year old body? Did you get delayed loading at CHEPs' again? Any Alberta driver knows that they don't allow trailer-dropping, yet it's your fault. Traffic/bad roads in like, you know, winter? Your fault. Someone else put the truck you're slip-seated into for that day into a ditch, and you note the damages on the Schedule I during your pre-trip? Well, that must mean you did it.
Take the 30-45 minutes each day that it takes to do a proper pre-trip + paperwork? "######, what are you doing to me, I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE!!! Why are you doing this to me???"
This guy yells and throws his water at whoever happens to be in range when he wants an excuse to scream at something because he's not getting what he's entitled to at this moment, and hey, it's always your fault, so...Gods, he's a child, man. He's a god-###### spoiled child, and I am so, so sick being expected to eat it from all these children in this company, and this industry.
Do you like having your pay constantly shorted by an incompetent, immature, pathalogically self-centred lying little slag of a dispatcher who is convinced she's too good for any/everyone, can do no wrong whatsoever, and will backstab you at the first opportunity to cover up same? She did that to our original dispatcher to cover up her own constant f-ups, and with him went the last of the good morale/esprit de corps at this place, despite its issues. Why --because he is a veteran driver, he gets it. No-one else* behind that office wall does, or as far as I know, has ever even sat in a heavy truck before.
(*Exception: The safety guy drove for almost 40 years, but all he does is parrot exactly what "G.O." (the aforementioned man-child) wants him to say to us about anything. He says he's a lifelong friend of the owner --poor nai'ive sod, still doesn't seem to get that people like that don't have friends, just people they feel comfortable in using and/or bullying.
Was it worth it, "B?" Was it worth sacrificing the honour and pride you built over almost 40 years and Heaven knows how many miles of safe driving, for the likes of that? I might just ask him this at the end of my up-coming last day.)
But they're all very practised at licking the aforementioned spoiled rich douchebag's #### just how he likes, so they get the cake. We just get the blame. Everything and anything, doesn't matter if you never even knew it existed/happened, it's all your fault. Always. Just ask G.O., he'll be happy to tell you. Bring hearing-protection.
We had one of our drivers commit suicide this past January --I think I know what one of the causative factors may have been.
You'll be promised wage-reviews quarterly. I didn't get my first until six months in, and I was not considered at all on my merits as a driver --which even G.O. the douchebag freely says are very high-- but denied any possibility of a raise, now, or possibly ever, because of a quite-minor-at-the-end-of-the-day personality conflict with G.O. Mature adults can handle/work around these, and do all the time, but none of these people are what I would call real adults...so: The slightly lower than standard wage I'd agreed to to get the job because I'd been un-employed for a while, needed to "re-prove" myself will stay stagnant.
And all the senior drivers I talk to say they get the same kind of crap. Stagnation and peonage, always with some kind of excuse, walked all over at the drop of a hat, for nothing.
Equipment:
Complete junk, spec'ed totally wrong, many trailers literally falling apart such that you can't even get the doors closed without fighting for 5 minutes with them. Yes, I check to make sure I'm on level ground first!
You don't want to work here, unless you either truly have nowhere else to go --[cynicism] in which case, you should go to the oil-patch; That's what people did in my day, when'd that change? [/cynicism]-- or if you have absolutely zero self-respect, and don't mind being walked all over constantly, by a bloody spoiled, over-entitled child.
Avoid Orlick's Incorporated, you really don't want to work here, and soon I won't be, either.
Sorry if this sounds a bit less cogent/coherent than my usual, but I am mentally and emotionally ########## wiped right now.
Thanks for nothing, kid. -
Haha...finally got passed your suspension? Did ya ever think that Orlicks treated you like crap cause they wanted you to leave...with you bad attutude n all??
-
LOL...Im not the obvious failure here. Nice try but your profile said banned last time you tried to be all high n mighty here...
-
LOL...whatever makes ya feel better, name calling and all, but I'd say thats shows you maturity level. I am smarter then going to work for someone like Orlicks or any big bad named carrier
