You would think like most jobs do they would verify BEFORE you go to the school! Seems like the smart thing to do..........Back when my buddy went to Prime he said that they verified his employment before he even got there and didn't have to display his W-2's.......And before anyone says try Prime.....They said that they weren't hiring students at the moment when I called......so that one is out of the question as well.....

If the recruiter has told you your employment background is ok and you don't need the w-2's, then that's correct. They were able to verify your employment history in other methods. (such as fax verifications, emails, etc).
W-2's are needed for those with hard to verify histories...self employed, contract workers, waiters/waitresses ...
Suppose you were an independent sales rep that sold items for multiple manufactuers (use to call them a manufacturer's rep).
You don't work for any of those companies, but Stevens (by law) has to verify your employment history.
A tax return and W-2's (or in this case, 1099's) would suffice.
Here's some irony. If you were an Alliance driver for Stevens, finished your contract, then went to work for another trucking company, they would likely need to see your 1099 because you haven't been employed over the last two years, you were a contractor.

So then I am good to go?! OMG happy day!!! The recruiter told me the same thing you did when I asked her.......but I was hesitant on believeing a recruiter haha......I was just worried because I don't have a whole lot of money (enough to last for about 6 weeks) and I already put my two weeks in at work.....so I didn't want to be stuck about a thousand miles from home and no way to get back

You still have the option of 3 reference letters from people close to you, not family, stating that you 'picked up occassional work for cash while looking for full time work'.

Well that sucks too cuz I really don't have 3 people that are close to me.......I don't trust anyone and don't really have any close friends......I guess I will just go and hope for the best if they send me home well at least I still have my CDL

I am scheduled on the 11th as well. I have the same recruiter and she told me that I wouldn't need my W2's. I do have a question though. Will a passport substitute for a birth certificate? I don't have the original and really didn't want to pay to get another one. Thanks to anyone that can help.
