Anyone on here had any experience with the classic parts that cat offers. Looking at rod and main bearings. What's the difference between them and regular parts besides the classics being about $200 cheaper over all.

I am pretty sure they are aftermarket

Never even heard of it myself.

They have the part numbers for them on SIS, there aren't very many parts that have the option. To do the bottom end with the regular parts it would be almost $800 after I finally got the right part numbers to come up. Using the classic parts it was under $300 for the same parts.
They are sold by CAT, that isn't considered aftermarket when they come from the CAT house. From what I read Les, they are producing these as a lower cost route of replacing parts for older equipment. -
This could be interesting. Let me know if you use them or find anything more out about them.

CAT Classic is strickly for older earthmoving product. Cat has never released "classic" parts to the on- hwy product family.

There are part numbers on SIS for the bearings. Some of those parts interchange with on highway apps.
Les2 Thanks this.
