Hi everyone. Well I can't really give my "Favorite" trucking company as this will be my 1st trucking job. So I went through there training which they use Continental Trucking School, and is located right at Raider Express in Fort Worth, TX. So my class room and driving tests are done. I am going to start to post updates on this topic about how my OTR Training goes. The Continental training was great, great instructors with patients. So once Dustin finds a trainer for me I will keep you all up to date the best I can on how things are going so people looking into training or just looking into switching to another company and will have an idea of how my experience with Raider Express is.

    hi thunderf4,

thank you for the thread, as I am inquiring about Raider Express but I can't seem to find too much about them. I live in Ft Worth. That's nice that Continental is in Raider Express, don't they have an actual school in Dallas also? What are the requirements of the program, can I pay up front, or is it a company sponsored program?

    Thx, Mack

Raider is not a really big company, its family owned. They have about 350-400 trailers and about 130 tractors and growing. They don't drive all 50 states. Mainly just the center of the US and a little to the East, they hardly ever go as far as N.Y, MA. The farthest West they go is Colorado. I'm not sure if Continental Trucking School has one in Dallas, I'm sure they do. Yes you can pay upfront. I did not pay upfront. That is costing me $75 a week for about 3 month, and there interest on the $900 is only $23. So total cost is $923, but after all training OTR is complete and i am solo and stay with Raider for 90 days they dont charge the $23 intrest. If you don't have your CDL it will be around $4200 for a 4-5 week class, if you have your CDL is $900 for a 1 week class. Then they will set you up with a trainer OTR for 28 days at .10¢ a mile, yeah that sucks. Once you go solo it will be .28¢ a mile then its like up to .34¢ in a year. They have great bonuses as well. I got my CDL on my own, the cost of the tests to get my CDL plus 2 endorsements and the cost of the truck rental to take the driven test was about $360 total. As far as a commitment mine is only 90 days after being solo. The truck rental was only $250 out of that $360. Froylan P. Phone number removed he rents the truck at the Hurst DPS. If anyone rents from him tell him you got his number from Randy G. He will take you out in the truck and go over everything you need to know to pass the driven test. Then he will take you out one more time the day of your test before the DPS lady tests you.

Ok so I called my OTR Trainer Friday and left him a message because he is heading out on Monday asking "Can we meet up Saturday at the yard so I can see what all to bring and what can go in your truck" I never got a call back. Saturday I called him and left a message again, I still got no call back, or Sunday. From my understanding the OTR Trainer is heading out Monday (Today). So I will post once I hear what's going on.

I hope you packed what you thought you needed anyhow just in case you get a call last minute to meet him somewhere. Hopefully "heading out Monday" means he is not close to you and you won't be rushed. I hope he was busy and didn't just straight up ignore you.

    Good luck!

Yeah i still have everything packed. His truck is still in the yard so he's home still. I just called Dustin to see if he can get a hold of him. See what happens.

Thx for the info, doesn't seem like a too bad outfit. I know they've been on Craigslist like crazy advertising for drivers. I am going to try to go the same route as you with getting my CDL on my own and taking the refresher. I will definitely look that guy up. Would you please PM him number. Thx again.

Have you heard anything from Dustin or your trainer?

Yes I can PM u the number. Yes I got a hold of my trainer. We left about 5:50pm just passed Sweet Water, TX heading to Lubbock. Getting your CDL on your own will save you a lot of $$. Compare $900 to $4200 lol

Training is going good. My trainer is a good guy. Been to Cactus, TX to Denver, CO to Le Mars, IA into Nebraska. Had some truck issues so we got back to the yard Friday waiting on a call for the truck to be done them will head back out.
