Yeah, HOS violations are a real sore spot with JBS. They had a management team get fired some years ago over HOS violations and had to spend a few million putting in elogs. The replacement management wants to keep their jobs so a dim view is taken of even one violation, let alone multiple.

I have to disagree... I've been with JBS for a year now. Within my first 5 months I had a trailer catch fire and a preventable accident. Granted these incidents were not my fault but they havent fired me. They took me in and re-trained me to make me a better driver. Sounds like youre just ########

Now that I think about it, 4 years ago would have put Triple Six as starting during the so-called Happy Time where logs were an annoyance and 5-6000 mile weeks were common with no questions asked as long as the job got done to hear drivers tell it. This could be where a somewhat cavalier attitude towards HOS violations began.

    Dinomite and mje Thank this.

from what I see of JBS drivers and the company here in Colorado, they deserve every bad comment they get. I deal with the local drivers at the intermodal ramps and depots, apparently following the rules is a little difficult. There have been two banned for life from the UPRR terminal for ignoring safety rules, another one was threatened with a arrest a few months back at one of the container depot's for refusing to leave the property and arguing with the depot manager. The depot even threatened to stop doing business with JBS when the drivers boss started arguing with the depot manager.

Okay Triple Six...but here is the deal. If you are knowingly violating your HOS then you are setting yourself up for failure. You know you can't violate the HOS and if you were doing it on a consistent basis then I can understand why they would let you go. I had a couple minor HOS violations myself and I got a call from Safety letting me know about it. It was a quick conversation and I went on my way.

Doesn't matter what you do outside the ramp/terminal, when your on the railroad/steamship/depot lot, you play by their rules, whether you like them or not. It's private property, they make the rules, you don't.

ramp speed limit, 15 mph max, UPRR cop has a radar gun, one driver was warned twice in one week for speeding and failing to stop at a live crossing. He was banned for life, no appeal possible.

second driver was warned once for speeding, twice for no safety vest, once for not stopping at a live crossing (all crossing are live regardless of train or not), once for ignoring an order from the ramp manager. bye bye, banned for life.

Darn he can't go to the ramp no more. I'm sure he is kicking his self for those few mistakes. What is he going to do now. Probably haul cattle or do local. Maybe even go back on the road for us, and make twice the money. Hmmmm Wow guy you sure do dislike like JBS because a couple drivers forgot to wear a safety vest and went 18mph instead of the 15. Good grief dude. Yeah buddy JBS just hiring those out laws.

I once got in trouble at one of our Pilgrims plants because I forgot to wear my safety vest. Wow they chewed me out and only took one time learn my lesson. They also said if I did it again I'd be banned. Guess some are faster learners then others. Have a good weekend.

lol, that's up to JBS what they do with him, but he's now banned from all UPRR ramps in the country. From what I see, JBS is a true bottom feeder company, they make SWIFT, Wermer, etc. look good. I've yet to see a driver who looked like he showered in the last month, most smell like the packing plant as well. The chassis they haul can't pass a roadside, which explains why they do their damndest to avoid the scales, most of the tractors are only a couple of year old and they look like they are a dozen years old. I've yet to hear a good thing about them from any customers that we mutually service. Last snow storm there was a JBS OTR driver sitting in the middle of I-76, sunk to the axles in the snow/mud, still not sure how he managed to do it, the road had been scraped clear hours earlier, no wind, even the shoulder was clear, yet he drove into the median, come to think of it, there was a CRE driver a few feet ahead of him, maybe he was being a good lemming.
