    Merry Christmas all,

Tichdaddy here again with a question about Prime Inc.

Anyone started with Prime as a newbie?

    How was their training/trainers?
Their recruiter raved about their training plan and trainers.
Curious as I spoke with the recruiter and her "speil" seemed to make sense.

Sounds like you can make the $ if you are a motived driver that is willing to stay out and move it.

    Any thoughts???

    Thanks again!

    Howdy all & Merry Christmas,

Giving serious thought of going with Prime's refer division in Jan. 2008.
Any thoughts on a brand new driver beginning at Prime Inc.?

Seems like their training plan makes sense.
    Anyone went through it?
    How were the trainers?
Recruiter says they are hand picked and care about teaching you right, not just the extra $.

I've heard you can make a good dollar there as a lease op. but you have to really keep it movin.

    Anyone drive company for them?
Can a newbie last a year as a company driver for them?
How does dispatch treat co. drivers?
    Honest company to work for?
What's the home time for company drivers?

Any info. on Prime is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks again all, be safe...

    Hi Tichdaddy,
I am actually starting my training with Prime Feb 5th and looking forward to it. After doing a lot of research and checking out many companies I decided on Prime due to the training program for newbies. Some folks say its too long but I would rather be out there with an experienced trainer before getting turned loose in several weeks time as some of these company's are currently doing just to fill some seats. I also want to learn the business side of trucking along with being a safe and competent professional driver. There are a few sites primarily dedicated to Prime drivers but I am unable to post them or pm you with the information at this time. Take care and best of luck with your decision...

as company drivers or lease operators? If company , then I would guess it's ok. If you're doing the lease deal, think very, very hard before you get into that since you have no experience at all. It's wise to first start as a company driver and drive for a while, maybe a year or so before you go the other route.

I am going the company driver route with Prime until I get lots of experience under my belt. Then I will weigh my options and make a decision or possibly stay a company driver for years?

Thanks for the reply and info.

I too thought that Prime's training was a bit more thorough just from what the recruiter said on the phone. Now I am more assured.

I have yet to submit my app., but will do so in the next few days.

When possible, please do forward me via pm or a post, the websites specifically for Prime as I am interested.

As for the lease, I have heard both good & bad. I know that as a newbie, I must stay on the company side to start prior to taking on that serious of a commitment. No brainer there.

You said you start in Feb. How long is the wait period from application to training?

Who knows, maybe I will see you there..

Anyone else with some Prime info feel free to pass it on.

    Thanks again.

    Merry Christmas to all...

Tichdaddy I sent in my application late on a Friday night and had a call from my recruiter the next day to talk about the application and answer my multiple questions. I did not feel rushed at all to start training and decided due to issues on my end to wait until early 2008. There was no pressure to sign after you put your application in with Prime during my experience with the company.

    Take Care,

my 2 cents worth- I thought about Prime (not training tho) and I hear good and bad on these msg boards, but heard nothing but positive words when I talked to the drivers at trk stps. One good thing about Prime is they have a walk away Lease (they say). Good Luck to you!
