just a little update here, i FINALLY received my new 22" mast. put it up shortened my whip above the coil so the over all antenna was the same length and after adjusting my whip section just right I got a flat 1:1 on the mid channel and right about a 1.1: to 1.15:1 on 1 and 40! thanks a bunch for your help! just to be safe i am getting it looked at by a trusted reliable tech thats been in the game over 50 years who has a mfj antenna analyzer that will ensure i am resonating where i should be! thanks again for all your help!

I'd be interested in what the MFJ tells you. Please post the results.

Read your instructions!!!! It tells you what to about the SWR. But yes, get a longer shaft and get above the cab for best performance.

Thanks but i did read the instructions and i know a decent amount about swr. If you read my most recent posts you'll see thay i got the longer shaft and my swr is about perfect because of getting that coil above the cab. Appreciate your input but the problems slready solved

I just bought a new radio its a superstar by Ranger. I have a wilson 2000 antenna. My SWR's were off so on the package of the antenna it said that I needed to shorten the stinger a 1/2". After shortening the stinger a half inch my SWR's matched up but they are running just under 3. I have the antenna mounted on a bird perch that has replaced the top front bolt on my drivers side mirror any suggestions on what I can try to get my SWR's down. Any help is greatly appreciated

Sounds like you need to cut more off the whip.

On my volvo,I had to take atleast 5 inches off.
