Had a nasty roll over tonight with a Whole Foods load. Sub zero weather. Driver is fine (after seeing the pics, I don't know how, but he doesn't have a scratch)
Produce was scrambling to get a truck out and salvage the load. I commented, "Well if it's broccoli, don't worry...we can always sell it to the frozen foods vendors."
Don't think my humor was appreciated.

    ?
    Where was this at?

Last week on my way into California I was running overnight and between the NM/AZ border and Ash Grove I saw at least 7 trucks either Jack knifed or rolled over. None were ours thankfully.

Hey do any of you guys know if they verify employment before you go to the school? Shalonda told me they will verify it this coming week.....but I'm leaving next sat...does this sound right? I've heard from other people on here that they verify once you get through school and in orientation....I'm getting sick of one person telling me one thing and another person a different thing! Please if someone has been through this or know for a fact to let me know, I don't want to get stranded in flippin Texas since I'm from WI

You don't have to worry about being stranded if you tell the truth. Normally, but not always, they verify employment either just before you leave for Dallas or (in cases where the employer is slow in returning information) just after you arrive. They start the process before you get on the bus.
But even if that part of your file isn't completed before you arrive, as long as you've told the truth, you have nothing to worry about.
They don't send you home for little descrepencies (like having worked for an employer starting in May instead of April). They send you home for lying, failed drug tests or failed physicals.
If you lie or fail a drug test, that ride home is on YOUR dime. If you fail the physical for disclosed reasons, i.e. you had told them about an auto accident years earlier but Dr. Feelgood decides it has left you with a knee so bad you don't pass, they pay your trip home.
Now if you fail to disclose that accident and you fail the physical, they may or may not pay your return ticket, depending on if they think you were trying to hide it.
A major accident last year would indicate you are hiding it. An accident in 1975 can be considered forgotten, and not intentional.

Oh ok well I haven't lied about my employment...I'm just nervous and excited about this new career! After your 5 weeks otr training how do they get you home? Fly you or does your trainer get a load through your home town?

It is highly suggested that you complete ALL of your training BEFORE taking any hometime. If you are insistant on hometime, it is usually Greyhound or dropped off by trainer. Greyhound will be at YOUR expense. I would definitely recommend coming back to yard after 5 wks with trainer, go thru Orientation 2, do your 3 wks of Trainee/Trainee, then ask to be dispatched in 'home' direction for your 1st Grad Fleet run. You will probably get a run to Shelbyville Wal-mart DC or something to Atlanta, then deadhead (run empty) to home. You will have to check with Stevens on where to secure truck & trailer. Should be a piece of cake on getting a run after hometime because we pick-up in the Cleveland area. Hubby & I have picked up there after hometime in Knoxville.

neither...after you complete ORI, which is a minimum of 5 weeks, you may go home, via bus, or continue on to ORII, and then when you go solo, they will attempt to get you home via a load.

I am actually going to be moving to Eau Claire, WI......thats where I am originally from.....I haven't seen my family for over two years and I am just excited to see them again! That's the only reason I was asking......Shalonda told me after my five weeks I could go home for five days.....so I was pretty excited about that!!!

So I take it that they really don't get you home when they say they will?
