I call the the Truck/Comp.
A pleasant voice answer's ................my ? leads me to the next person.
A head personal in Shipping/Rec.............
I asked " Hi ....., my name is .......and I have a question for you. I had to repeat it again....................
"Is it against Company Policy to have a small Floral Arrangement delivered to a driver in your company, during this Holiday Season while he is out there"?
Bottom line ,You got have a Bill of Lading (oh, and let me throw in) he said "SERIOUSLY".................................
I said" So this is a pain in the ###".................he said well " yea ".
I said " You take good care of those men and women out there, won't you"........................he said " Oh yea, you bet"..............
I quietly place the phone on the reciever...........................
My newest guardian angel is sure working overtime. That fellow at the Truck/Comp (office)will not sleep well tonite................
Now I could call the owner of the Truck/Comp, known of each other all our lives / but I pick and choose my battles wisely, I never loose. Sometimes they are bad battles , but most of them are good battles.
A little "EFFORT" goes a long way".........
Note* My idea is to order a floral arrangement (the coffee mug w/ rose) When my friend/fella is at a certain destination <of course it depends on time> the gift is delivered......Done DEAL.
keep it simple stupid I always say............................!
I am gonna sleep on this and I will keep ya posted!!!!

I'm a little confused by this post, but I assume you're trying to send a floral arrangement to a driver. And I get the idea that you're sending the arrangement somewhere other than his terminal...am I with you so far?
If that's the case, I'm thinking the logistics of it is going to be a problem, you'll need to know where he is, and when he's going to be there. Most of these floral delivery companies want at least 24 hours notice. I'm not sure this is something you can guarantee for them.
Now, if you're trying to send it to the terminal that's a different story.
I've done it once, but I let dispatch know it was coming and asked them to make sure he was there when it came in....if it didn't get there before he did. His dispatcher was the absolute BEST BEST BEST. She's the only thing we miss about that company. -
Right . A floral arrangement (coffee mug w/ flower) to the driver on the road. It seems as of late that the closest my friend/fella gets to the terminal (Home base, Mt) is in Souix Falls ,SD...currently in or out of Buffalo NY .........on my "venting" as I re-read the statement about contacting the owner.................no! Don't want to tread in an area I know nothing about....................The key to a successful driver is thru the ,Dispatcher......................... I feel (common sense)
I mean after all this is the transportation world we discussing
-
The problem really lies in could you possibly be someone wanting to know where he is to harm him or steal the freight? That would be on most dispatchers minds. However I feel your pain, this is a difficult situation to deliver flowers to a trucker. How does one do this?
Good luck! I am sure he will hear you tried and the though will mean more than the flowers
-
LogsRus..........no way, not me , but ya never know , right! Awful to "have to be" suspicious and leary of other people's minds.......Harm to the "Driver" or stealing the "Freight"..............!
On that note FYI , I called and a dispatcher relayed a "Merry Christmas" to my friend/fella out there on the road from my Family's business that my f/f assists and inproves when , he is not driving.
I am going to the Office and taking a "Thankyou note and a treat for him, for doing that"............!
I am delivering it personally..................................! -
I would like to give it a try ! The outcome it what it is all about.......................a feel good story...............!
and yes the floral arrangement goes to the driver and his or her truck out there on the road..............
Hey this could be the start of something hearfelt.
A Trucking Business delivering flowers to the drivers on the road.......small vans..........major can't miss PAINT job...w/ tracking , scanner and radio......probably the best place to take them is a truck stop of course, near the freeways..........hmmm!
