We are a team, and we responded to an ad and they sent us a job description with guaranteed miles and terms. Greatwide didn't live up to half of what they promised in writing. Liars, cheats, thieves and total ########.

Work slowed down in our area basically. went from getting 90+ hours a week to not 40..on top of that I was only making 13$ an hour and it just wasn't worth that low pay busting my butt out there and barely getting 40
... we were out of east Texas and all the work was in
South and west Texas and it wasn't looking like it would
    pick up soon around here.

Greatwide out of florida is really bad. The agent is a raging drunk out of Daytona. Also they lie on prices of the loads. All brokers.
They are really bad. Promises all kinds of dough but no go. Terrible! Bad news! Need I say anymore?

    JRut Thanks this.

I believe the agent you're talking about is the one who has alot of his own trucks. He has a yard, for freight, but usually only loads his own trucks. If he does give up a load, he charges you for putting it on your truck (100 dollars). There is another one like that by Houston, got his own trucks and yard , only loads his own trucks.

It always bothers me a bit when I see someone post really nasty things about a company and they are a "one hit wonder". Meaning, they have posted once or twice in the past.
My other half has been driving as an O/O for Greatwide (Truckload Management division) for two years. As a 30+ year veteran driver, he has found more stability with this company than any other he has leased to in the past.
FOR STARTERS... There is NO WAY an agent can "LIE" on the "PRICE OF THE LOADS" to drivers that are leased on to Greatwide. Drivers are paid a percentage of the line haul. The agents cannot change this as it is what corporate billing uses to get paid from the customer. They generally get 75% of the line haul which is after adjusting the rate in the driver's favor by assessing a generous FSC. Any O/O is free to see any confirmation of any load he hauls. It is the corporate office that provides the pay and settlement to the drivers. NOT the agents. The rates on the confirmation from the broker/shipper are what the drivers pay is based on. So let's be clear. It's impossible to get ripped off in this manner.
Greatwide is a large company. They have many agents and I'm sure some are better than others. In fact, I can attest to that. We book all of our own freight for the truck and go where we want, when we want for the price that we've agreed on with the broker or shipper that we book our loads with. Greatwide, as a company has been fantastic to work with. I say this after two years and I DON'T work for their recruiting department! Just experience of enjoying the opportunity they have afforded us. Everything has run smoothly with them for two years now. And they have our back which keeps the truck running smoothly, looking razor sharp and the bills paid on time. I would challenge anyone who has such negative things to say about this or any company to consider this: What do YOU bring to the table? Do you provide excellence in service with dedication and pride? Or do you pitch a fit every time you are offered a load over 40K? Do you really have a sense of pride when it comes to communicating with brokers and being on time for pick-ups and deliveries whenever possible? Or do you let 'em know "the load will be there when my trailer hits the dock"! News flash: success in this business as an leased on O/O is not about finding the "right" dotted line to sign your truck on to. It begins with your attitude. Team players with dedication and a successful mindset will always get the "cream" over those who who are difficult to work with. Whether you book loads yourself or have an agent/company do it for you. The best get the best. I love it when one of the brokers we work with calls me to say "I have a special customer... I really need Marty for this load"
All of that said, no company is perfect. There are trade offs wherever you go. I'm glad we stuck it out and worked out the kinks in the beginning. Just my $.02
