I have been with TA for a long time. Ty was actually my coach. I know that everytime I have called him he has helped me out. As far as my miles I get those on my own with my driver manager. I do very well with these guys. Knowing Ty the way that I know him he has called me everytime I have left a message on his phone. I also know out here on the road there are alot of guys who like him because he is one of the few that actually returns his phone calls. Im sure your not gonna stop by the office and get all crazy with the big wigs so settle down little trucker....

Cant even make trucks fast enough to satisfy all the rubes and strap hangers that want to piss everything away trying to be a big shot.

I was also a lease driver for TA in 2010. The original poster makes some valid points but is missing on a big one too. The $.84/mile is EMPTY, not loaded. Loaded at my time was around $1.34/mile. That's a significant difference and an important piece of info.
Biggest issue I ran into was the overall weekly cost of the lease. I was told the highest total was just under $900/wk and that was if I took all the extra insurances and accounting program and some other things I don't remember. My average weekly cost was about $1200!! That becomes a big difference week in and week out.

I will say that they did keep me running for the most part. It was rare that I didn't have a pre-trip before finishing the current one and if I did, it was a matter of a couple few hours before getting one. Not 12 hours or a day or anything. I did seem to get called into the terminals a lot for some reason. Got alchohol and drug tested in my first month! And trailers were always due for pm whenever I was within sniffing distance of Olathe or Rockwall.

I don't even know if they run company trucks anymore. Nobody that I started with is still there. THe extra costs and a few truck pm issues that cost some buddies time and money, really turned people off. Taking home time was tough as the payment keeps coming when the wheels aren't turning. 3 days off generally resulted in 2 short pay weeks. Best best is obviously to stay out as long as possible.
One of the other downsides is that those lease payments don't lead to anything, other than what is supposed to be a bonus at the end of it. I didn't stay til mine ended so you'd have to ask someone who's been there long enough to know if they actually do pay out. My understanding has been hat they do , though. The longer the lease, the bigger the bonus. But you never pay one off so..................

Sorry it's long winded but that was my experience. Some good, some bad. Probably could have been more good if I had known more about what I should have been doing but since it was my first driving job, sometimes I was my own worst enemy.
