Some people have been brought up to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help them God.

Personally, I would have an enormous amount of respect for someone who operates this way vs. someone who hides information or does not tell the whole truth.

However, I do realize that telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth can backfire in one's face, ESPECIALLY in the work force.

This really is a sad situation, getting punished for being 100% totally truthful.

IRONICALLY, trucking companies absolutely cannot stand to have liars in their fleets

I'm interested in applying to this company, but I have prior trucking experience, just my regular Class E driver license. Do you need to have some sort of CDL training prior to being accepted as a trainee at Central Refrigerated?

Man I might have sealed my own fate then. In the seven links of paperwork they emailed me to fill out, one of them was a security interview sheet. In it asked if you had EVER smoked marijuana in the past. I put down 10+ years ago in high school. The recruiter didn't say anything about it when she finally called to schedule my trip up to Salt Lake. Because I admitted this on the paperwork, I assume it will be there in the security interview. The recruiter wouldn't have contacted me to schedule a training date, only for me to drive up there and then get sent home because of that would she?

Might have just shot myself in the #### foot here.

I wouldn't worry about it. You did the right thing and as long as that was the last time you have nothing to worry about. They hire police officers who haven't used within the last 5 years at some large agencies. I doubt you'll catch hell for it at a truck driving company if it was 10 years ago. The company wouldn't waste their time and money on you and schedule you for training if that 10+ year ago marijuana use was going to be a problem. Most people get sent home for blatantly lying on their criminal history and background and medical issues they didn't know disqualified them or they even had. Honesty is the best policy. It's when you begin to go beyond the scope of the question being asked and give up too many details that hurts people.

Uh oh, I think I'm in the same boat as this guy too. When they asked me, I told them the truth and told them the last time I smoked marijuana was 6 years ago. The recruiter noted it down, so I'm assuming it will be asked during this "security interview". I hope this doesn't backfire :(

So do you go to GA, and then to SLC? What's the difference? Were any of the above ppl sent home for divulging prior drug use?
