earthmover , I read answers to your question that don't make sense at all, you bounce is probably the tires, I have dump trucks and I use the same size that you have on front, the only tires that I can use with no bounce are 1. Michelines, 2. BF Goodridge, 3. Continentals. now I have try Sumitomos with no luck, they always bounc,e ohtsu the same and never had Chinese tires on front.

The hair line crack is probably from being old rims, I had that happened to me and that is the only explenetion that have, don't go to smaller tires it will cost you money, I have seen people being happy with the 1200 and 315 only to go back to the 385 and 425 later, keep an eye in your friend tires and you'll see how often he will replace the fronts and eventually he will go back.

I hope this will help keep us posted

P.S. I do believe in shocks they do work, I replace mine every time I get new tires, once a year, but just to give you an idea the truck that I drive doesn't have shocks on front and it rides as good as the best riding truck out there, currently using Continentals 425.

thanks for all the reply...t800 I had tried cont. htc on my truck still had a bounce...I will check my shocks again tom. while I am working to see if they are hot or cold..(way I was told to check them) but they are not that old only a few mths... the toyos on my truck now has about 40000 miles on them and I switch them from side to side (rotate) them on the 2nd oil change 10000miles..now when I say rotate I have them unmounted and moved over from side to side so I don't break the belts in them..did it the other way once and the tires cupped..no problems doing it this way so far...but please keep the ideas coming as I need to find the problem cause I think this has whats cracking my wheels..(2nd) wheel in less then a yr. same side

Jack up the front axle and spin the tires and see if they are out of round, or mis mounted on the rim causing an out of round condition.

Next to the edge of your wheel, you should see a small line (built up), that runs about a 1/4 inch from the rim edge. that will be a good indicator to show if tire is not centered on rim.Should be equal all the way around.

Yep, perfect explanation. Tires can be mis mounted very easily on the rim. Tires do not always mount perfectly centered. The rubber bead area of the tire and the aluminum or steer wheel surface the tire mounts to has actually a lot of friction between them. If tires were slippery on the rims, the rim would turn, but the not the tire under a hard pull. As the tire is being inflated on a rim it can become off center and mount off set. It can be out of round or have lateral offset, (side to side wiggle), or a combination of both. Most of the time this is simply due to incorrect mounting from lack of tire mounting lube. Those tire bead sealers, or cheater cannons, are very aggressive at blowing up the tire to mount it. Usually they blow on one side the tire and forcing it on the rim more on one side than the other. If the tire is nicely lubed, and the inside of the rim is nice and clean, it should self center. Tire guys are paid by the tire, not hour, so the quicker they install the tire and move on the more money they make. Rims don't get cleaned, tire lube is quickly/unevenly applied, if any, and wammo, a bad tire install.

well guys I think my problem may just be in the back...diff. tires and rims same bounce ,same speed so now I am thinking its in the back.. gonna take all the wheels off the back this weekend and check make sure they are centered on the hub, goning to try and run the truck with the back wheels off the ground first and see if out of round tires(which someone had stated)..the bounce is bad enough that sometimes the bed slam agains the frame from the bounce going down the road....:biggrin_25513: I cant take much more of it.. it just wear you out driving the thing now..also going to buy some new wheels for the back the ones on here are old and may have 1 that's bent or something from some of the stuff I have to go through...

I had to road test a garbage truck today. Big tires on the front, heavy suspension. Hit a bump in the road and it started to bounce. Bounce would not stop. Perfect frequency for the tires and suspension to be happy to keep bouncing. I had to slow down and bit for it to calm down. I wasn't going very fast, around 30 mph maybe. It bounced long enough for me to remember this thread.

Years ago when working for a GM dealer, we would replace the drag link to fix those problems, next would be shocks.
