New Driver @ Interstate

Heya peeps
so, at the moment, im sitting in my newly assigned freight shaker at the terminal in lebanon with the others that I went thru orientation with the past 2 days, waiting to do our run over on the truck with the guys from the shop and I guess waiting for drug test results to come in. As far as orientation, it was pretty standard stuff, seemed like a lot of info in 2 days but just small things here and there that are done differently from my last company. I was assigned to an older truck, told I wouldnt be in it very long, automatic, but has an apu so now kinda hesitant to have it taken away lol. Orientation was very laid back, first day as with most was drug test and backing/driving test. The hotel we stayed at is just down the road, one of the students gets the keys to the van and we head out at 630am for class. Lunch was pizza both days, first day was a lot of safety talk and such. We sat in on the fleet managers and planners morning meeting on the 2nd day to see their 'pow wow', we're told anytime we were at the terminal we were more than welcome to go up and sit in on their morning meetings. some of the topics we went over were done by live conference with orientation classes in tacoma and fontana. Paper logs, we have driver tech?? think thats what its called lol and some have qualcomm.

we were told idle % is 15 for teams, 20 for solo, if you go over you just dont get your bonus. when i told them my last company was known to charge people that went over they bout had a heart attack lol. They have perdiem but you dont get charged an admin fee like some places. 150 adv available per week, week runs sunday - saturday, any runs done then are on your paycheck, paperwork must be scanned by sunday midnight. fridge, inverter and scanners installed in cab, can use transflow or trip pack scanners at truckstops, most dont need to be mailed in from what i understand tho there are some customers that you need to drop in the mail after you scan them, using prepaid envelopes from the company. all loads must be weighed, direct deposit on thrusday for the previous weeks runs... not sure what else to put. The terminal here is pretty nice, laundry, big lounge, vans you can use to get places, showers... its a gated terminal with security. I've seen that asked before in other forums so figured id just put it out there lol, which is also surprisingly new to me

They have a few fleets, western 11, Midwest regional (MO, IL, IN, OH, PA, KY, TN, GA, SC, NC areas, 5-7 days out and 34-48 hrs home. They aim to get you home on the weekend, you can ask to stay out 37cpm), US East (its like opposite of western 11, denver and east, 3-4 wks out, standard 1 day home per 7 out, 35cpm). From what i understood only teams do 48, when i spoke to my FM he mentioned a KC regional but i haven't heard anything about it besides that. the cpm are based on exp of course, 6 cpm is per diem, 80% drop and hook if i remember correctly, they have reefer but need hazmat and its 11 western, mostly along the I-5. as far as miles they usually say the avg as most do 2200-2500 or so but i like to post actual numbers after a few wks

 

pre-planned fuel stops, tho i guess technically the cards are open cause they mentioned people fueling at locations that they werent planned for. terminals that have pumps are always open to fuel at without having to get permission or notifying FM
