`09 Proatar ,air system freeze up.

    has anyone had any problems with air system freezing up on 09 pro ,day cab ? every winter it seems to be the same old song with these trucks. usually freezes on secondary side. Secondary air tank is closest to front of truck . Air dryer/governor combo is behind cab ,drivers side. Original dryers were made in Mexico . new dryers are made by Bendix. Usual scenario is to grab a torch and start heating the tank and dryer but it takes awhile to thaw system. I Guess my Q is has anyone experienced this problem and have you isolated where the problem is .

    Not a known issue. We usually see freezing up as a result from lack of servicing or improper application. What model of dryer do you have? When was the last time the cartridge was changed? What is this truck used for? What type of trailer, how many axles? We just had a customer with a Western Star with constant water in the tank problems. The truck was spec'd with just an AD IP dryer. This truck pulls a 5 axle bulk load tanker with two steerable lifts. As per Bendix application guide, this unit needed TWO AD IP dryers in tandem. A single AD IP is really only good for a regular truck pulling a two axle van trailer. We installed an AD-9 extended purged dryer on it, and it is much better. To keep the price of the truck down, this is one area where corners are cut.

    Not sure what model other than it is a Bendix. Governor is mounted on side and has small resvoir mounted beside it as well. possibly a wet tank ,I don`t know. would be nearly impossible to drain in its present location . Came from Int that way . replaced made in mexico /international dryer last year.
