Key mic and needle moves but no speech to another radio. Switched antenna's and mic's no change. If I key up on another radio nearby I can hear it on the problem radio. No good shops nearby so might have to ship it to a shop near Mass.

So your needle moves when you talk but there isn't any audio coming through on the other radio?
-
yes that's correct
-
Does the other radio show a signal....like a dead key?
-
If you swapped mics and it didnt you have internal radio issues, could be as simple as a bad solder joint or could be to a blown final or driver.. take it to a reputable shop and have them look at it. A good shop wont charge you a bench fee.
EZ Money Thanks this. -
used the Uniden radio with my antenna and it worked fine so something is wrong with the Cobra.
-
Probably a non issue but is your mike gain turned down?
-
Are you sure either mic is made for that brand/model of CB? A lot of radios use the same connector but require different wiring inside. If your driver and/or final were blown, you'd still be able to hear your radio on a nearby radio (like within a few yards). Not even all Cobras use the same mics.
Ditto the mic gain pot suggestion. And is the CB/PA switch firmly in the CB position, or maybe kinda inbetween the two positions
