Hey Guys, let me say this......
Some folks are comfortable carrying in certain situations, some are not. Some look strictly at the legal situation, while others are willing to push the envelope. NoTarps is trying to make a point. He doesn't pack because of the legalities and his personal comfort level of packing a gun in his situation, regardless of the second amendment. Others will pack to feel comfortable. It doesn't matter what you choose to do, as long as you have a choice........ THAT is what the second amendment guarantees and that is what of gun freedoms are about. He said, he owns several, but chooses not to carry in a CMV. There is no doubt that the "smoking monkee" can take care of himself, and I'm sure if he felt any differently about his abilities to do so, that would influence his decision. Let's face it, if you drive a truck OTR, you won't be legal everywhere, and you won't need a gun everywhere. Stop and look for a moment about places like Jersey and NYC. If you get caught with a handgun there, whether you use it to defend yourself or not, you're going to jail for a mandatory one year. PERIOD!!! I don't like it and I'm sure many who live there don't like it either. But remember, Carrying anywhere is a choice, and I won't slam a guy for making his choice not to. Personally I do carry, but that doesn't force anyone else to do so. My decision is my decision. Your decision is yours and only you can make it.

Look, if you feel the need to carry in a CMV, well, lets face it. Maybe this isn't the career for you. Because you haven't learned how not to be statistic. And , my friend carrying a handgun is not the way. Before we jump to the usual anti gun / liberal rhetoric, I am a veteran of 1 Police action (panama) and 1 War (Operation Desert Shield thru Desert Sweep)
as a Cavalry Scout. I love firearms! I love demolitions! I love hand to hand! And they all have a time and a place, and can all be avoided!
All that is just being socially responsible! (the avoiding the use part) Anything else is making up for something one is missing, whether it be physically, mentally, or manhood wise.
Because lets face it, if YOU DO NOT put yourself in the POSITION to be A VICTIM, THEN YOU WILL NOT BE A STATISTIC! and this entails more than "packin' heat for the big bad highway terrorist" or as we used to refer to as the "Boogie Man" -
I dont know if this has already been bought up, but what about a .22 caliber nail gun. Is that considered a conceled weapon???
-
You'd really have to ask the Kommunists who pass gun kuntrol legislation. It really is belivable that states like Ill, NY, KA have language addressing such a tool. While a .22 cal nail "gun" sounds like a "weapon" to your average school girl or metrosexual yuppy puppy, I don't see how it could be held in the same light as a real firearm.
Even if were a legal alternative to a handgun, it would be absolutely worthless IMO. It takes one hand to hold it and the other to strike it with a hammer. Plus, the "barrel" is very short and not rifled. 2 big strikes against any kind on accuracy.
I like the way you thing though -
Me personally, the weapon would be strictly for cab/sleeper use. I think a six inch bowie knife can be just as deadly as a pistol. I just wanted to see if anyone knew the fine line between tool and weapon.
-
Tools can be weapons, and weapons are tools. It's all up to the leftist elites to decide what is legal/legit.
If nothing else, a tire iron can be your friend.....I think we're still allowed to carry them, even in the most kommunist states. -
I just got a tire thumper for Christmas, and it's going right next to my seat. Feels like it could do a fair amount of damage.

Read this post, then tell me again why we shouldn't be armed to the teeth.
