Stewey, what difference does it make whether I served for the Flag or for a paycheck? The point is that I don't need anybody's thanks either way for my own self-esteem which brings us back to the OP who is more than willing to trash an entire company because some little old lady didn't give "proper" recognition to his discharge document.
FFE is Anti-Military!!!

Martee I think you misunderstood my post...i was agreeing with your post and the the proceeding rant afterwards was directed at OP. I went back and observed where I can see how it got confusing. My mistake. I corrected it.

Sorry. My bad.

I'm a Navy vet, and I'm proud to say that I can out-mop, out-paint, and out-shine anyone in the Pacific Fleet. The only medal I ever got was for what was quite possibly the worlds worst case of the clap ever brought back to base in Okinawa. That, and to this day, after getting thrown into the brig for fighting off-base, also being the only one i know that got thrown in the "brig of the brig" for fighting in there as well. I'll tell anyone that wants to hear of my exploits. I made momma and daddy proud.
Now take my uncle. He just retired from driving a school bus. He's the most un-assuming cat you will ever meet. He's bald, wears those bone colored shoes with the Velcro straps from Wal Mart with black socks. When it gets cold, he breaks out his members only jacket, circa 1985. He started driving the bus when he retired out of the Army.
Hes got one picture of him in an Army uniform in a hallway in his house. When you see that "salad bar" on his chest, you will see ribbons for a Distinguished Service Cross, a Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars, a POW ribbon, and 3 Purple Hearts, the third of which he was alive to receive only because a Medal Of Honor winner died carrying him out of a jungle. Green Beret was impressive enough, but he was Delta Force by his second tour of duty in Vietnam. Look at his sleeve, and you will see enough stripes and rockers that made him an E-9 Command Sergeant Major when he retired.
Lets keep this in perspective. The only time I ever remember my uncle talking about his service was pointing out a name on a black wall that was his friend who died carrying him out of a jungle in Southeast Asia. It's people like my uncle who don't say anything who are the reason why you can go around getting upset when some company skirt doesn't give you the recognition you think you have earned.
Be proud of your service and move on, never forgetting the ones who have sacrificed a helluva lot more than you have.48Packard, kerosene jockey, baseballcoach and 6 others Thank this. -
So now the question is, "Are there any ex-military drivers at FFE and how are you being treated?"
RickG Thanks this. -
I hear ya. I wear a number of different "if you like your freedom, than a veteran" shirts and I thank every one I meet with a simple "thank you for your service"

Thank your uncle for his service but I have one question. Delta Force (1st SFOD-D) wasn't formed until the late 70's after our withdrawal from Vietnam.123456 Thanks this.

Bingo.......
1st SFG Camp Hardy Okinawa...1970 -
um...I don't mean to sound rude or anything but I can not find any records of any Vietnam Vet with the number of medals your Uncle has. There are less than 600 DSC recipients alive from the Vietnam War and none with the record that your uncle claims. 20 SF Soldiers were awarded the MOH in Vietnam. Is your uncle saying he was not only SF but was saved by one of those 20 MOH Recipients and was also awarded a DSC? Along with the other honors I'm skeptical and have sent this information to some friends of mine for verification. It is one heck of a record.
Edit: PM me your uncles name. I'm throwing the flag on this story, I am calling Stolen Valor on this one. If I can verify any of this I will issue apology to both of you here.Last edited: Feb 10, 2013
