Yeah, running refer can really suck. I can remember being woken up many nights by that annoying alarm or some bimbo from night dispatch waking me up in the middle of my sleep telling me my "refer isn't running". When in fact, it was running. Trying to go back to sleep was a challenge after I wanted to strangle someone to death ;-)

Hahahha .. Yeah, same here. That used to piss me off. One time they called me like 3 times, I kept telling them its running fine and stop calling me. Then they called again and I said hold on .. Went outside and shut it off and told them what I did and hung up on them and shut my phone off.

Of course, later I turned it back on again ..lol

So, my refer example is part of the intangibles that don't go into figuring a driver's real hours that aren't compensated.

The other thing that bugged the crap out of me is the practical miles scale they use when paying you for dispatched miles. I ran the numbers religiously and figured I was consistently being shorted 3% to 5% of the actual miles I ran on the dispatch.

The company I work for now pays to the rat's end the actual miles I run, sometimes even a few miles more.

With May, the long cross Country runs could be shorted as much as 10%. I have all miles counted as I use non paid miles as write off.

But with Interstae, I am paid % of load plus 100% fuel sur charge.

I was.in same boat as blue only making 30k plus does not cut it. I am over 50k here my last check grossed 1,165, i will be close to 60k here by end of year. I cant justify being on road as long as i did and bring home less than i can make in construction and home every night. Dont give up on the industry give up n the carrier. May was a training company. Thats all it is, i put 500 in my savings every week. I just completed building goat pasture w shelter n chicken pen within 2 months, paid over 3k. Could never do that with May.
