can anyone tell me how many wires should be going to the relay on a classic or fld. my cruise does not work but the high idle does. i have 4 wires in the relay box but one terminal on the relay is not wired. there is a lose wire in the same area.

Take a good look at that loose wire and see if you can find a number on it or mark down the color code on it then check with a dealer. They have wireing diagrams for everything the sell, it's just getting them to take the time to look it up. They should be able to tell you where that wire goes from and to and how many and what wires are on the relay.

DON"T JUST TAKE SOMEONES WORD HERE ON WHERE IT GOES!

That's a more common problem. But don't listen to us. NYROADIE says so. :biggrin_25522:

But a relay will have at least 4 wires. You should be able to look at the base of where it plugs in and see where the wire broke or was cut.

The majority of common relays have the same set up. Look at the side of the relay and you'll see a diagram.

Pin 86 is the cruise switch
    Pin 85 is ground
    Pin 30 is battery hot
pin 87 would be to the cruise
